Default Caldwell aside - who are the Ravens' viable offensive coordinator candidates

I like Caldwell - believe he's extremely competent and will significantly improve the Ravens offensive performances the remainder of the year. As a result I believe he will be the offensive coordinator for 2013.

But Caldwell aside who are other potential candidates for the Ravens offensive coordinator job. I know one thing I don't want Norv Turner or Andy Reid (mentioned as potential candidates by a Baltimore Sun article).

Caldwell and Peyton created the Indi Offense. I don't believe they had an offensive coordinator. Maybe he and Joe can do the same here.

How about we look at what Caldwell does over the course of the next 4 games? Wouldn't that make more sense than trying to decide who should replace a guy who hasn't even called a single game?

I originally said I expect Caldwell to be the OC and I want him to be the OC - all I;m trying to do is kick around a few names (leaving Caldwell out of the equasion).

^^this. But i like Caldwell. I think he was a smart hire by Steve and Ozzie and I personally hope he's on board next year. Unless he completely blows his 4 game "tryout"

Why in the world would you do that? What point does it serve? Aren't there enough REAL issues to be discussed? Isn't is joyous enough now to have Cameron gone, and Caldwell in? There are 3 games left in the regular season that have significant playoff implications. Why in the world would anyone want to discuss something that might never even happen when all this other stuff is going on?

OCF, maybe you're taking this too seriously. Most of what is on the board is BS, and isn't that what it's for? It's not like Newsome, Bisciotti, and Harbaugh are looking here for ideas on what to do next.

So having said that this is just kicking stuff around for fun, what about hiring an OC who has primarily defensive experience and mindset. That sounds crazy of course, but who would know better how to attack a defense? I don't know any names offhand, but since I'm just killing time here just throwing it out there.

How about Hue Jackson? He and Flacco had a good relationship from what I have heard /read.

I don't think we'll know until after the season and see who's available. And aren't currently employed coordinators allowed to make lateral moves liek Marvin Lewis did to the Redskins that one year?

I want to say the Redskins gave him some additional title that sort of made it a step up, technically. Probably "assistant head coach" or something. Or maybe the Ravens could have technically blocked it but chose not to. There was a big raise in play, and Modell always treated his staff in Baltimore fairly.

I'd be very surprised if Reid wasn't offered another HC job somewhere next year, assuming PHI does let him go.
