Thumbs up Remington Corner to Become Arts, Eating Destination

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/mar...1806025.column

Who would have thought that an old automobile repair and tire shop promises to emerge as a theater, restaurant and small office building? Look for the Single Carrot Theatre to move into enlarged permanent quarters at the corner of Howard and 26th streets, an intersection now on target to become a new arts and eating destination.
    Good stuff!

it may work; Remington's violent crime rate is less than that for Baltimore City as a whole

When I first read the words "old garage", and "Remington" and that the thing would be part of an "arts and eating" area, I immediately assumed they were talking about that unused, massive white building directly to the west of Pizza Bolis, on W 29th St and Remington Ave. I've often passed it, and wondered why something hasn't been done with it, given it's great location.....heck, it's right near the Holy Trinity of Remington Eating: Pizza Bolis (home of the $9.50 extra large), Charm City Cakes (of "Ace of Cakes" fame), and The Dizz (formerly "Dizzy Issie’s"). This building isn't that incredibly wide in the front, but it's got to have thousands and thousands of square footage; the thing goes back a country mile, it even practically wraps around Pizza Bolis. I wonder if the theater looked into purchasing it initially. Might have had a higher price tag than the former tire place on Howard Street, though. Shame, because that tire store comes highly rated (it gets great marks for price and customer service) -- I had been planing to use it the next time I had a tire issue.
