Default A note to gun owners or people thinking of getting one

If you own guns or are thinking of getting one, remember that signing that 4473 form is only increases your responsibility.

Securing that firearm is YOUR responsibility. If it is not in your hands it should be locked away or rendered inoperable. You can lock it up in a massive gun safe or remove bolts, slides and cylinders and store them in lockable boxes. Render them inoperable.

    Don't advertise your possession blatantly.

A police officer I know foolishly posted on Facebook that he was going on vacation, only to find when he returned that someone had broken in his home and stolen his service pistol and a full auto M16 provided to him by the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service (DRMS, This organization provides surplus military weapons to law enforcement agencies through out America.) Now some jackwagon is walking around with a automatic weapon and pistol.

    You are responsible. Period.

Responsibly securing weapons may have avoided the national tragedy that unfolded on 12-14-12.

Thanks. You also reminded me to buy more ammo this weekend.
