Default Grinch caught on camera stealing delivery in Howard County

County police are searching for a man who was caught on video stealing packages that had just been delivered to a Columbia home.

According to a police press release, UPS delivered the packages to a home on the 6200 block of Tamar Drive at approximately 2:40 p.m. Nov. 28. Moments later, home security surveillance video shows a green Subaru station wagon pulling into the driveway.

A white male with short hair in shorts and a hooded sweatshirt exited the vehicle and took the delivered packages from the front door area of the house. He put the packages into the station wagon and drove off.

There were similar photos/videos last year. The race and gender of the thieves varied.

Columbia man charged in string of home burglaries

A Columbia man has been charged in three residential burglaries that occurred earlier this year in Clarksville and Columbia, according to Howard County Police.

Robert Stone, 43, of the 10000 block of Daystar Court, has been charged with first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary, destruction of property, auto theft and resisting arrest. The charges came after police exercised a search and seizure warrant on his home following his arrest Nov. 22 at the scene of a residential burglary in the 11000 block of Ridermark Road in Columbia.

Police are investigating whether Stone is linked to other burglaries in the county.....

    Another outlet covering the grinch

A resident living in the 6200 block of Tamar Drive captured the crime with his video surveillance system. The packages had been left at the residence by UPS around 2:40 p.m. on Nov. 28th Moments later, the security video shows a green Subaru station wagon pulled up into the driveway.

The vehicle was displaying a Maryland tag that was later determined to be stolen. It is unknown what tag may actually be on the vehicle at this time.

The suspect is described as a white male, with short hair, wearing shorts and a hooded sweatshirt, exited the vehicle and lifted the delivered packages from the front door area of the residence. The man placed the packages in the station wagon and drove away.

    Somebody snitched

Police arrested Kenneth Randolph Sheehan Jr., 41, of the 540 block of Franklin Avenue, after receiving a tip after releasing photos of the incident, which were taken off of video surveillance footage set up outside the residence.
This was not his first rodeo!

Police said Sheehan is being held on similar charges in another jurisdiction.
According to online court records, Sheehan is currently facing seven counts of theft in Anne Arundel District Court.
His trial date in Anne Arundel County is set for March 7, while his trial in Howard County District Court is set for Feb. 20.
