We probably could not have a better post to underline why Hagel left the Senate and the Republican Party. The mind boggles!

Hagel will likely be nominated for Secretary of Defense, not State. But his bluntness towards Israel makes me like him even more.

He's not anti-Israel. He just doesn't kiss their arse like most in Congress. He's like a friend who tells you the truth about yourself whether it offends you or not.

Byngo! CNN reported this morning that John Kerry is the Presidents nomination for Secretary Of State.

They're looking for a lackey, one who will roll over and fetch for Baracka like Susan Rice did (and does).

    Daily Beast, indeed.
Let's take a moment to appreciate the irony.

Ah, that means we're looking at Senator Robert Menendez as Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations. Between that and the likelihood that Senator Corker will be the ranking member, no one on either professional staff will know anything other than theory. Seniority for chairmanship and ranking member status is determined by time on the committee, not time in the Senate.

Kerry will be chairing the Benghazi report and investigation this week before stepping down.

Disappointing. Basically gave the GOP back a Senate seat.

It's not 100% certain that Brown will win Kerry's seat but the Dems don't have a strong bench in Massachusetts. The only possible candidate on the Dems side with as much name recognition as Brown is Deval Patrick and Patrick says he wants to finish his term as governor.

And, fortunately, Richard Lugar will still be there.

Anything that comes out of the hearing will take forever to be published -- and not entirely because of Democratic Party delay (actually, it's in their interest to get it all out as soon as possible). Answers to additional questions for the record can take 6 months for pedestrian hearings, and Jim DeMint is likely to submit all his sharp-hatchet questions in writing, since he rarely has the courage or character to ask them in person.

Reportedly, Ed Markey has baskets of money left over in his campaign account.
Plus, if Brown accepts funds (or even unattributed, right-wing focused ad help), it will hurt his efforts to appear independent of the crazies.

I think Patrick has his eyes on Attorney General to replace Holder. Maybe the ambitious Brown might fancy his chances as Governor?

If Brown really wants the seat I don't doubt that the Koch bros and other right-wing billionaires will outspend whomever the Dems nominate.

It would be interesting to see how that outside Koch money plays in Massachusetts.
