Default Long day for Ravens coming?

With so many injuries what is the chance the Ravens's have to win? It looks like a long afternoon. I hope I am wrong but I can't see us beating Peyton without all these players out.

Nobody can, but there are such things as upsets. Lets hope we somehow and pull on off. However, I am not optimistic.

I think things will go better than people are expecting. I think the offense is going to go out and do everything it can to win this one for their new OC. It happens sometimes, and I think this is going to be one of those times.

I hope you're right. I think the start of the game will ultimately dictate how it goes. If Manning and his offense buzzsaw down the field and score the first couple of times they get the ball, it's going to be pretty ugly in my opinion. And Denver's defense isn't going to give up 30+ points. Not unless there's turnovers involved. I guess stranger things have happened but everything is pointing to a rare event in Baltimore- a blowout by the vistors at M&T Bank. They've got to figure out a way to keep Manning on the side line. Pure and simple.

Expect Flacco to throw 40-50 passes to keep up with Manning!

Hope for the best, but take the visitors to cover easily.

I don't want a blow out but we have our third string defense out there! If Flacco can score each time we have the ball, 3 or 7, we can pull it out. Therefore I think it is not how Manning does in the first two to three possessions, it is FLACCO.......do it young man, lets go!

Looking at Denver's 2012 W/L record, the MOST the Broncos have given up this year on D is 31 points, and that was to the Texans and the Pats. By the same token, even with Peyton, the MOST they've scored on O is 36, and that was against the 4-9 Panthers. The Ravens HAVE scored 44 and 55, and the Ravens DID limit the great Tom Brady to "only" 30 points. So it's not totally out of the question that the Ravens COULD come away today with an upset victory of sorts. That's not to say they WILL, only that they COULD. (Stranger things HAVE happened.)

The D line's been playing a little better as of late, especially when they're not worried about the QB taking off... which they won't need to with Peyton. And Moreno / their line doesn't strike me as the sort of physical group that the Ravens have struggled against from time to time this year. Now whether the guys on the back end can knock the WRs / TEs off their route and play close & physical coverage all day long... that remains to be seen. Peyton's absolutely brilliant when it comes to accuracy and timing... you have to knock his guys off their routes and make them go off course. If Pees has the DBs give them 10 yard cushions and try to "react", forget about it...

What the offense can do / change in a matter of days remains to be seen...

45-24 Broncos. And the 14 of the Ravens' points come in garbage time.

This is a reeling team with half its talent not on the field, a new offense, and with the one QB they could never beat under center for the opposing team.

Michael Lombardi predicts a career day for Joe Flacco because of the changing of the OC's:

To even have a prayer and stay in the game, two things have to happen:

    1) Pees has to not be his usual self, playing soft zones and limited blitzes. They need relentless pressure on Manning. Trying to play a cover defense against him, especially with our talent, is instantly fatal.

    2) The offense has to be hyper aggressive, unpredictable, full of risk taking, and it has to execute. If Harbaugh/Caldwell think they're going to defeat Denver with a ball-control, hand-off-to-Rice offense on the ground, they might as well stay home. It's go for it, balls to the wall, or just forfeit, at least nobody gets injured.

The problem has been, and may continue to be, that the Ravens' coaching, all of them, have always played a way-to-conservative, predictable game, and you just can't beat elite teams with that kind of don't-take-any-chances game plan. They need to be aggressive on all fronts and to execute. Nothing less.
