Now people are lobbying for Alex Smith (a theme among other Ravens message boards), this guy had a much better team around him in San Fran and still lost his job. How is he a better option than Joe?

I don't know, they seem to think that Smith is more effective than Joe and the Ravens won't miss a beat. Unless the better Harbaugh coach (Jim) comes here and brings the current 49ers defense with him Alex Smith won't survive playing in the AFC North. The idiot fans who want Flacco gone want the Ravens to go the cheap route, the Ravens will have to pay a QB big money at some point down the road whether it's Flacco or somebody else. I want Joe to leave just to see how the Alex Smith dream scenario would play out, maybe the idiots will wake up and realize that the Ravens have bigger issues to fix.

I wanna see Joe leave just so he can (maybe) get to a team that knows how to construct an NFL offense.

Tyrod should start in Week 17 if we have wrapped up the division

I hate to call a fellow Ravens fan a moron but those who voted for Taylor are just that or else didn't watch him stink up the field against second stringers and third stringers in pre-season.

These are probably the same fans who thought Kyle Boller was going to be the next Drew Brees!

Smith was almost run out of town before Harbaugh arrived; the 49ers developed a system based around Smith's strengths and he did better. Put him in with this OL and people would finally see that Flacco was a lot better than many gave him credit.

there is no evidence taylor can play. when flacco is struggling, and he has numerous times the past two years have they ever put Taylor in? The answer should tell you all you need to know.

To get where the Ravens want to go they need an improved OL and a better QB. Flaccos lack of pocket presence will never allow him to grow as a QB.

    Money.

The team is in a catch 22 with Joe.He's clearly not worth elite QB money but if they give him what he wants then they aren't going to have enough cap space to improve the team in other areas where they need it (like the OL) and without these upgrades Flacco won't be successful.

So answer these two questions for me 1.)If the Ravens had decided to trade Flacco and sign Peyton Manning to a 5 year $96 mil deal would you be worried about money then?

2.) Why is Alex Smith the popular choice? He had a better team around in San Fran and still couldn't get the 49ers to the Superbowl and now he's a backup. The better Harbaugh coach isn't coming here to protect Smith.

If Flacco takes a cap friendly deal then what's the problem? Why are you and others assuming that his agent is still demanding elite QB money? Have you talked to Joe Linta recently? NO Have you talked to Ozzie Newsome and Pat Moriaty recently? NO So how would you know anything about Joe's current contract talks.

I think he's going by what was stated in the press as far as what Joe was asking at the time this was being more heavily discussed. Unless or until there's some updated info, I don't think it's unfair to go by what was reported at that time, do you?

I want to see that too just to prove how valuable he is here. What if Alex Smith comes here and the Ravens don't make the playoffs? Will they run him out of town too?

Ok I get that but what I still don't get is why is Alex Smith the popular choice? because's he's cheap? LOL Colin Kaepernick is doing a much better job (including tonight) with a more talented 49ers team than Smith did but Smith is the answer here? LOL

Of COURSE they'll want to run Smith out of town too at that point.

It's why the term "Baltimoron" has become so popularized.

Flacco had the Ravens in SB except for dropped winning TD pass. Smith had 49ers in SB except for two fumbled punts.

1.Oh yeah. All teams have to work within the cap and it's my opinion that if you have four or five players consuming half your cap space than you're basically stuck with change for the other 50 which means that unless you draft wisely you're gonna have a roster full of a bunch of bargain basement scrubs since that's all you'll be able to afford.

2.No clue about Smith but there are times when he's been pretty effective. If the options are pay Smith $9 mill a season or Flacco $17 mill than I would rather take a chance on Smith because we know what we're gonna get from Flacco and the difference isn't worth $8 million a season. That's an additional one maybe two solid free agents that they could sign. This offseason that $8 million would have almost been enough to cover the salaries of Eric Winston the OT that was signed by KC and Ben Grubbs.

If Flacco would settle for a deal in the $10-11 million per season area I would have no problem at all with him returning.

I know no one in Baltimore wants to hear it, but his numbers will get him more elsewhere.
