    Default Clinched Division?

BS site has the Ravens clinched the division?

For the fifth straight season, the Ravens are headed to the playoffs.

Despite their 34-17 loss to the Denver Broncos, the Ravens clinched the AFC North title Sunday when the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Dallas Cowboys, 27-24, in overtime.

The Broncos (AFC West), Houston Texans (AFC South), New England Patriots (AFC East), Atlanta Falcons (NFC South) and Green Bay Packers (NFC North) have also clinched playoff berths.

How is that possible? The Bengals are 1 GB. If they win out, and we lose out isn't the division theirs?

It's NOT possible. The Ravens clinched a PLAYOFF birth; that's all. If the Steelers beat the Bengals next week, THEN the Ravens will clinch the division. They did NOT clinch the division today.

If Cincy loses to the Steelers the Ravens win the division, even if the Ravens lose out the final 2 games. That's correct.

If Cincy loses to the Steelers and the Ravens lose out and all three are 9-7 this is what happens

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

    Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated during any step, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of the two-club format).

Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs).
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
    Strength of victory.
    Strength of schedule.
Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best net points in common games.
Best net points in all games.
Best net touchdowns in all games.
    Coin toss

The first tie breaker would give the division to the Steelers with a 3-1 record versus the Ravens and Bengals. Baltimore would be 2-2.

Simply put the Ravens must win next Sunday against the Giants. If the Bengals lose to the Steelers they will basically be playing for nothing in week 17 which may help them to play just well enough to beat the Ravens. They do not take pressure that well.

It's confusing as crap so I doubt most people got this.

Bottom line is the Ravens have been set-up pretty well to win the division, get a pseudo bye in week 17 and play the Colts in the WC round at home. The Steelers get in and play either the Pats or hopefully Denver.

I am now pulling hard for the Pats to win tonight so Denver is the 3 seed or that the Pats beat the Steelers in the WC round.

The Ravens have a small chance against the Texans or Pats but none against the Broncos.

I didn't know the Ravens were pregnant. For future reference, it's playoff berth.

Between two teams yes but when its 3 teams you have to go to their combined record against each other.

The Ravens are going to treat next Sunday as a playoff game complete with a pesudo bye in week 17. If I am Harbaugh I don't even talk about today's game. I have this team focused starting tomorrow morning on the Giants whom I believe if you punch them in the face they'll go away.
