    Default Harbaugh hating

Why is everyone so down on Harbaugh? I believe he is the only coach to take his team to the playoffs for the last four or five seasons...however long it has been. I don't think he has lost this team at all. I don't see how you can blame flaccos struggles on him. Cam wasn't the problem on the offense, it's obvious it is flacco IMO. He does make some bad challenges here and there. I don't see why there are so many people are down on harbaugh when he has taken this team deep into the playoffs almost every single year. We were one dropped pass away from the super bowl just last year. I don't think it was harbaughs fault that we did not toto the super bowl last year.

    Here's my take

I don't hate on the guy at all. He seems like an all around real good guy.

    but in terms of football....

He has a real good record. He has made it to the playoffs 5 years in a row. Make that 6 now correct ?

    However,

I just choose to believe he has had the talent here to win it all. I don't necessarily blame him directly but shat runs uphill. He is the captain of this ship. It's been his lieutenants I blame...and they are his choices

But hey I could be wrong

So after one game you've determined that Cam was not the problem but Joe is. What if Joe throws for over 400 yards next week for the first time in his career to go along with 4 TD's? Will Cam then get the blame?

Listen Harbaugh is a good coach but he makes some extremely questionable decisions like not calling 1 of his 3 time outs before the half to make sure that his offense wasn't rushed and had a good sequence of plays to score a TD to get them back in the game. His challenge of the Torrey Smith non-catch was ridiculous and showed a sign of desperation. I also have not liked his unwavering loyalty to his coaches. It reminds me too much of Andy Reid who now is firing everyone in sight when he knows the end is coming in a few weeks.

Lastly when a team is as injured and battered as the Ravens are the HC has to be a difference maker be it on offense or defense or both. He is neither.

He's really no different than Billick but he's not as outwardly pompous.

Yeah, but you can always say that under a different coach, we would be better but that is a hard argument to prove. Even if we won a couple of super bowls, people would be saying we won them in spite of harbaugh not because of him. Barry Switzer immediately came to my mind as soon as I typed that lol.

    cracking up
I said that under Billick. You know the offensive genius who won because of Ray Lewis and his defense.

Harbaugh has a lot more credibility than Switzer.

Look fans are fickle. I went to the Steelers game in Pitt and the cabbie that took me back to my hotel said that Tomlin should be fired because 'I don't care if he won 10 SB's you don;t lose to your arch rival 3 years in a row at home'. I told him it really should've been 5 years in a row but who's counting.

Harbaugh is a good coach but what hurts him and in some respect hurts his credibility is that he has no real calling card on offense or defense.

He seems like he's a glorified figure head.

I am basing my opinion on five years, not one game. If flacco throws for 400 yards and 4 tds then this further proves my point that he is too inconsistent from one week to the next or even one half to the next. Someone brought up a good point on this board last week. Do you want to see Harbaugh call out his coaches in front of the media so the fans can see he is not too loyal to his coaches? That would be one of the worst things a coach could do IMO. I think harbaugh has been a differeNce maker. Preston said this might be the worst 9-2 team in nfl history. That says a lot about the coaching.

Other than wasting time outs I'm really not sure how much coaching Harbaugh actually does.

On the real Ravens message board (24x7) the question legitimately being raised is this: Has John Harbaugh "lost" the locker room/players respect? If so, then it's a bad situation, and he needs to be replaced. It's not a matter of "hating" on anyone; it's a question of whether or not the person charged to be in control of the team IS, in fact, in control of the team. (Not saying he IS or is NOT; simply putting the discussion in its proper perspective, vs nonsensical "hating" meme.)
