The Isreali people feel armed teachers would be insane, in areas like the west bank they post cops or soldiers much like we do with cop cars parked outside of schools at times.

Who cares what the Isarelis think or do, it has no relevance to the USA. As far as the link, that has even less relevance. Its total crap.

Tell that to the gun nutter who posted the lie that if we were like Isreal and armed our teachers the CT massacre wouldn't have happened.
Lies need to be countered with the truth

Per your article, Israeli schools have armed guards and are fenced in.

It would be a shame if we have to resort to building walls and fences around schools but we may have to consider it...

The problem of arming teachers is securing the weapon. Teachers desk get broken into a lot. As far as israel doing that, well that is what I expect in an insecure country.
People do not want to pay more taxes for more security and armed teachers.

my dad (long gone from this earth) retired early from his teaching career because he had to disarm a 7th grader...he was an Army veteran who felt his role in the classroom was as an educator, not someone who needed to disarm students....schools are for learning, not to be surrounded by armed staff...they have places where the staff is armed..it's called a prison....

I heard it on the radio and seen it on many threads around here! It looks as though it appears in this thread.

Arm teachers who want to be armed, and take a proper training course. Those who choose not... ok.

Had this man been armed at VT....

There are about 500 students in my kids' elementary school. 180 school days a year.
Ask each household to pay $1.00 per school day, that's over $500.00 a day, and only $180.00 a year for the parents--- $500/day is more than adequate to have a police officer at the school. they could even have one on an overtime basis for less than that.

Ask the parents if they would mind paying that.

Or, maybe instead of having police spend so much time insuring that adults wear seat belts, they could spend more time protecting schools.

Why arming teachers en mass is a bad idea.

If the schools need protection, the police is who should provide it, not a poorly or untrained amateur.

No sane teacher would store a firearm, loaded or not, in a desk drawer in a classroom filled with students. CCW permits require the permittee to have the weapon on one's person, fully concealed of course, and subject to many rules and regulations as required in each state where CCW permits are issued.

You are right, taxpayers pay enough taxes already, they neither care nor want to shuck out additional $$ for security guards.

Regarding support of the Second Amendment, country singer Jason Aldean, Eric Church and Luke Bryan said it best:

Dig a little deeper when you think you can't dig no more
That's the only way I know

Think about this. I am sure you know teachers who should not have a gun.....I work with a couple.

Second how would the pool tech carry while teaching swim leassons. What about the Chemistry Teacher in a lab?
The last thing we need to do is give teachers in this country another thing to complain about.

Ending your work day at 2:30 and working about half the year would give them plenty of time to hit the pistol range.

Tell that to the families of the teachers who gave their lives trying to save the kids - and to the families of the kids who know it. Then crawl back into your fetid sewer.
