    Default Doesn't make sense...

So last week at DC, the Ravens offensively decided to fold their tents with about 40 seconds left in the 1st half and two timeouts in their pocket. The apparent philosophical difference on the sideline there probably gave Bisciotti the opening he wanted to force Harbaugh's hand, and Cam was gone.

Yesterday, while we all know that the chances of the Ravens tying the game late were as long of a long-shot as you can probably get... but when they scored to make it 34-16, they passed on going for two to TRY to make it (don't laugh) a two score game.

Okay, so if you buy in to the idea that they "knew" as well as anyone that they weren't winning that game, fine. I don't buy it myself, I think as a coach you ALWAYS do whatever you can to give your team the slightest chance to succeed. So go for two, and hope for a flurry on recovered on-side kicks, pass interferences, and blown coverages.

But then why is Flacco on the field in the final seconds trying to throw the ball? If you're not going for two to at least TRY to make it a two-possession-and-a-couple-prayers game, you're not really TRYING to win the game. So why bother putting Joe back on the field at that point?

One week you're giving away possessions (and not via turnovers, just walking off the field) when the game is very much in doubt... the next week you're asking your starting QB to drop back and pass in obvious passing situations where you CAN'T win, and against one of the best pass rushes in the NFL. What the...???

Just another example of John Harbaugh not even knowing such basic things as WHEN to go for 2 to reduce the number of possessions it'll take to tie a ball game. The man is so over his head it's not even funny any more.

    Ravens2006:

After all the flak being given Cam, Harbaugh admitted after the Skins' game that it was he, who called for taking the knee. See, our weak-kneed, defeatist coaching emanates from the top.
