Should the Ravens fire Harbaugh at the end of the season?

Not much about the past month's general postings have made a lot of sense. Not here. Not even on 24/7. I'm getting used to it (although I don't know if that's necessarily a good thing).



Losing has a way of doing that to some folks. All the "we're 9-2" boasting has really taken a hit. And that's what happens when people don't see false bottoms. The Ravens 9-2 was a falsely inflated W/L record. In that instance, they were NOT what their record said they were. It happens. Some folks knew it and were waiting for the bottom to drop out, and others weren't ready for it. I was waiting/ready for it, so this all makes sense to me. The Ravens can still right the ship, but they're going to have to make some changes. ONE of the changes -- that SHOULD have been made months ago -- is McKinnie at LT and Oher back at RT. Changing at least SOME of the offensive scheming is another change. That might be enough to allow the Ravens to win the AFC North on Sunday, rest the following week, and get healthy enough for the post season to at least avoid a one and done scenario. At the very least...it's been an interesting month!

I could not agree more. He NEVER appears to be remotely in the game. He stands on the sidelines with his mouth open and a blank stare on his face. I wonder if his earphones really work or they're just for show? His clock management is atrocious and always at his little presser after the game he says the same damn thing. Like, "We have to improve and work on those things, etc." Have you ever noticed the difference between John and Jim Harbaugh on the sidelines? Clearly Jim is IN THE GAME and actively coaching. And, did you notice how Tomlin greeted Jim after the game with a little hug and a congrats. Clearly there was respect there for Jim Harbaugh. Flash back to when the Ravens lost to Tomlin and Tomlin dissed him - no respect there for sure. Harbaugh must go.

Just curious. How did the Ravens win 9 games so far. I mean the coach sucks, the QB sucks, the D sucks, the O-line sucks, the GM sucks and the owner sucks. Yet somehow all these sucky pieces have managed to be the ONLY team in the league to make the playoffs 5 straight years.

Only 1 team can win the SB each year. According to the posts from some of the people on this board every other team sucks each year and should clean house. I mean being one of the 4 best teams in the league last year (3rd, behind only the Giants and Patriots since the Ravens beat San Fran last year) is totally unacceptable. Fire them all!

But I've lived in the Skins media market for the last 15 years, the 5 years prior to that in the Bengals' market. Firing Harbaugh feels like something Snyder or Mike Brown would do. Such firings by those organizations usually set the team back 5-10 years.

I'm not sure the parallel is apt. This isn't a yearly thing around here. There's really no comparison between the 'Skins and the Ravens. Or the Ravens and the Bengals. Really apples/oranges, IMO.

My guess is that he does survive - but I really wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't. If the IF happens I think its 50/50.

Supposedly. And it's a big supposedly, the owner likes Harbaugh, and that tips the scale toward NOT firing him. Oh well.

Don't worry, Harbaugh isn't going anywhere. They'll search out and hire a new OC and DC and take it from there. There's so much player personel that has to be addressed in the off season, I seriously doubt Bisciotti is going to compound the overall problem by starting over with a new head coach.

How do we know what the "end of the season" will bring. His past performance has been good. This year, the Ravens' defense has sustained many injuries. Let's not over-react now. Ask this question again when the Ravens' season ends in January 2013, whether it's early in January or late in January. Frank

It certainly is an option that shouldn't be dismissed without careful consideration.I view Harbaugh as more of a manager than a coach since he's not heavily involved in the weekly game planning on either side of the ball.Someone does need to take that red flag away from him though because he f***s that up on a regular basis.

If the Ravens lose out the season, I now think that Harbaugh's job could well be in jeopardy and it is a real possibility of this happening.

Harbaugh has had the team in the playoffs 5 consecutive years. Yes, there was an article written about " a near mutiny" but we haven't really seen any evidences of that on the field of play. I haven't seen players question him openly in the media.
Harbaugh is already past the average tenure of an NFL Head Coach. In fact, he's one of the longest tenured coaches in this franchise's history stretching back into the Cleveland Browns days.
He won't be fired barring some catastrophic turn of events over the next few weeks, and he shouldn't be.
Will he be around another 5? History says no, but his track record to this point is good. If you are going to argue that our QB deserves the benefit of the doubt because of the team's success over the past 4.75 seasons then you must also give Harbaugh the same benefit of the doubt.
