Well, he waited until the next day to report the shootings, and it appears he executed a dying burglar. Like that pharmacist in Oklahoma City, it appears his actions went beyond self defense.

He's lucky to only be charged with second degree murder. To me, those "finishing shot[s]" constitute malice aforethought. He already had them wounded and incapacitated, and then went for the kill.
If the statements presented in the article are true, he made it real easy for law enforcement to close the book on this one. I guess he forgot that he had a right to remain silent. He convicted himself by his own words. He had already incapacitated them before he decided to tamper with a crime scene and start dragging bodies around. Had he not followed up with a couple of summary executions then the original shooting may have been justified even though it seems he did everything he could to make himself look guilty of something.
