Default Mount Airy man found shot dead on Ocean City beach

    Disturbing!

A 27-year-old Mount Airy man was found dead on the beach in Ocean City on Tuesday morning, with what police believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officers were called to the beach near 45th Street about 7:55 a.m. for reports of an unresponsive man lying on the beach with a rifle in his lap, Ocean City police said

Condolences are with his family, friends. Could it have been that bad where you had to off yourself? Tragic incident.

I am glad that no kids or reckless adults found the weapon. What an irresponsible way to end your life.

A .22 rifle? I'd be scared to try to kill myself with that thing, I'd probably just end up alive and disabled.

A few more details. Not much.

Kind of less since they do not list exact age or hometown.

You totally missed the point. No shock there.

Here's a little tip to help you understand my point: Is there a "responsible" way for a person to commit suicide?

You ARE kidding, right? Like being responsible is the first and foremost thing that comes to mind when you're about to end your own life.

Absolutely. Some people put a lot of thought and planning into how to end their life.

I would think a shot to the temple would do it but to be left a veg would be the worst of the worst case.

Yes that is the tragedy of this story, the left firearm.

I honestly can't muster up too much else. On one hand I appreciate people that take the exit alone and do not feel the need to cause any harm to others. But yes. Leaving a loaded weapon in a public place is dangerous.

ER nurses have some chilling stories about failed suicides.

I met a guy many years ago who managed to blow off his jaw, cheek and one eye, with a shotgun blast. Even after multiple surgeries, he was a mess.

I'm sure, one of those miracles of science learned from places like VN and current wars. Not only the feeling like an idiot afterwards the constant reminder of not even being able to do that right...... NOT that I'm suggesting it.

Old movie with a failed suicide character in it, "Inside Moves" a GREAT movie with a really funny heartwarming cast of characters.

My goodness, hope the individual received the assistance he needed.
