    Default Is Flacco Inconsistent?

Two simple questions. I've been reading a lot of pro-Flacco posts and a lot of anti-Flacco posts. Here are the two questions:

Do you think Flacco is inconsistent?

Do you think he is too inconsistent for a starting NFL QB?

My opinion is he is inconsistent. I read on another thread that he has just been bad since week 13. The first game that comes to mind to refute this statement is the Chiefs game. Every QB who has played them up to that point threw at least 2 TD passes. Flacco lays an egg. His inconsistency has been throughout his career not just week 13.

As far as being too inconsistent, I think he is too inconsistent for this team. He isn't a guy who can carry this team from week to week which is what we need right now. Next week, he can light it up but lay an egg the following week.

    100% agree.

The only consistent thing about him is his inconsistency. You don't pay a guy 18 million to play well in 8 games a year.

    So who do you want?
    Fitzpatrick
    Sanchez
    Romo
    Cutler
    Rivers
    Freeman
    Stafford
    Bradford
    Cassel
    Ponder
    Henne
    Quinn

I think I made my point. It could be worse. Give the new OC a chance. Flacco's best days are yet to come.

I'd take Stafford all day over Flacco.

LOL. Brilliant. (And this is WITH Megatron catching the passes from Stafford, and playing indoors!)

    2012: Stafford: 17 TDs, 15 Ints, 59%, 79 rating.
    2012: Flacco: 20 TDs, 10 Ints, 59%, 86 rating.

Stafford ALL DAY over Flacco. Brilliant. Absolutely BRILLIANT!

He's younger, more talented, and has shown a much higher ceiling. I'd take him.

Stafford and the Lions in general have been interesting this year. The defense completely regressed and Stafford & the offense essentially do hardly anything but turn over the ball in the first three quarters. Then Stafford throws it 40 times in the 4th to sometimes pick up a win.

Yes and it's a big part of the problem with Flacco. But there isn't anybody better available out there, and no help coming in the draft, so he is the Raven's QB next year. Next year will be interesting. Don't know what the offseason will bring, but I could see their streak of consecutive playoff appearances ending this year. They have a lot of questions moving forward, and Flacco is probably one of the least. I said at the begining of the year that it appears the Raven's O-line was moving more towards Pittsburgh's than some of the better teams in the league, and that was probably being kind. It is a shambles. Boldin and Smith are a nice tandem, but Boldin is getting up there and I don't see anyone behind him who can take his place. The defense badly needs pass rushers, linebackers and secondary help. They need to replace Ray and Ed. All of this help isn't coming in one offseason. If they franchise Flacco, and have a down year, then they might look at going in a different direction rather than signing Flacco long term, but for now, there is no white horse with a superstar QB coming over the hill so Flacco is the guy.

Well...they've only managed to pick up 4 wins. Not too impressive, IMO. (Plus, as I said, Stafford is throwing to Megatron. So really...anyone who wants him over Joe...be my guest.)

(Not saying YOU would want him over Joe; referring to the "Master".)

I was at the game and while visiting the urinals in the fourth quarter before making my earliest exist ever, a somewhat intoxicated guy was rather loudly proclaiming that Flacco hasn't been worth a clump of manure (only he used another word) since his kid was born. As I thought about it, it seemed to be true. So I said, the same thing happened with Nick Markakis who went into a horrid slump around the time his first child arrived. Maybe he was on to something there!

In order for Joe to be successful, he needs to have a solid O-line in front of him to protect him. Then he can play the kind of game that is in his strength. Joe can't manage well with the ball when he is rattled. So, the decision for the front office in the off season is to either beef up the O-line (as they promised at the end of last season) or replace Joe with a more mobile QB.

All QBs are inconsistent at times. I think Joe's problems this season are mostly the play of the OL and contract concerns in the back of his mind.

He has been pretty consistent at one thing -- winning.

I'd get him some line help asap.

But I'd also find a backup to push him. Tyrod doesn't do that. Draft someone or find a FA to push him.

But before he gets a big payday and we're tied to him, I'd make sure he's got everything he needs in the O-line, receivers, play-calling, coaching
(including a kick in the b-tt when needed) before paying out big bucks.

Joe without the Ravens > The Ravens without Joe.

With the right skill set, coaching and game plan, Joe Flacco is good enough to take a team to the Championship. I would not define his career over the past few games.
