    Default LaureL High School scare

Student sent to the hospital on Monday.

Laurel City police say a high school student has been hospitalized for an emergency commitment after classmates felt threatened by his behavior.

Officers say the student alleged he would do harm to others.

Police spokesman Pete Piringer said Tuesday that the student's classmates complained about his disruptive behavior Monday. Piringer said a teacher told a school security officer, who notified police.

Student robbed at gunpoint near Laurel High School

Police believe the victim was robbed by two people, one armed with a handgun, but no shots were fired.

Officials placed the school on lockdown during after-school activities, Piringer said. Police used police dogs and a state police helicopter, and made robocalls to notify residents of the search.

About 90 minutes after the robbery, authorities arrested two teenagers, one male and one female, in the 8100 block of Londonderry Court, Piringer said.
