APR, compared to the liberals back then, Ronnie was a conservative. You gotta admit though, he was a true cold warrior. If the cold war could be likened to a poker game, RR won it with a pair of 5s.

BTW, picked "Dr. Strangelove" from $5 bin at discount store last night, watched it again for the x**5 time. Still think it's one of the all time greats.
    Slim Pickens going through his survival kit;

"Survival kit contents check. In them you'll find: one .45 caliber automatic; two boxes of ammunition; four days concentrated emergency raisons; one drug issue containing: antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills; one miniature combination Russian phrase book and bible; one hundred dollars in rubles; one hundred dollars in gold; nine packs of chewing gum; one issue of prophylactics; three lipsticks; three pair a nylon stockings. Shoot, a fellah could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff."

Right you are. As the liberals went more to the center and the right further right, RR's views are now somewhere in the middle.

No, hon, I pointing out the untruths, half truths, (whatever you want to call them) that genghiskhanraven is trying to push off on the Elmer Fudds of the NRA. Look at his 2nd on this thread.

The NRA helped define the Volker-McClure Act of 1986 (Firearm Owners Protection Act) which banned future production and sales of automatic weapons.

The mongolblackbird was spouting his usually "NRA wants everybody to have machine guns" drivel.

So many quotes in that classic. I've watched in a bazillion times as well. $5 is money well spent.

BTW, Ronny could negotiate, compromise, and work with Congress. A quality seen in many of both sides at that time. He was definitely a conservative, who happened to be President as the USSR was collapsing. It was gonna happen no matter who was in the WH. With the dollar as the world reserve currency anyone could have spent that much money (and do).

Read your red queen's proposed bill. It grandfathers current owners and magazines.

Until last Friday, BATF estimated 4 million "so-called assault weapon" in private hands. Google it.

As of Tuesday morning 155,000 additional ones had been sold. So make that, 4,155,000 in existence. To my knowledge there is not a single one left in my state.

Since 2004, sunset on magazines, estimates are unimaginable at how many exist.

Hop around, dance, crow all you like. The threat to ban them has just put more in circulation.

He and Tip O'Neill were polar opposites on the political spectrum, yet met each week for lunch.

I fear gentlemen of that caliber have disappeared for good in our political area.

Its makes it easier to keep your subsequent shots on target.

You need more than 6 shots to get the job done, you don't need more firepower, you need shooting lessons.
All depends on what you are shooting at.

So what constitutes an assault or assault style weapon?

The human index finger could be used as an assault weapon.

He's so giddy at the thought, he hasn't bothered to read the bill.

When he finds out that it grandfathers almost 4.2 million "assault weapons". Given that BATF estimates almost 100 magazines manufactured for each weapon, (the great numbers of AR15 magazines and other military "look alike" weapons magazines is what skews this number so badly as to make it almost unbelievable, although it doesn't take into account how many may have been tossed due to failure), that would place the number of magazines at 420 million.

The reality may give him a stroke.

People like that don't want to hear it, though. And when crime is unaffected they'll somehow blame the "Fudds" at the NRA.

    No one said they were.
