Don't lump all academics in with those who live in a fantasy construct, seeking to develop Utopia. Those who tend to work in the physical sciences, (technical, etc.) seem to accept reality of a finite world.
But you often find, and there are examples on this board, true "progressives" are not so much upset that a idea or thought that contradicts their own, could be voiced, as much finding out that it exists.
The more I hear of a "perfect society", the more I am convinced that those who passionately visualize developing it, would have no qualms about setting up guillotines in the public square to hurry the process along.

As it pertains to regular posters on this Forum, and as a rule of thumb, I've usually found that one's quantity of posts on a topic, is usually correlated to involvement/interest.
