Some cannot think on their feet, look at all the people handing money over to the Catholic Church every Sunday paying off lawsuits that the church perpetuated for the molestation of all those children. SMDH.

How about insults because the poster said gay marriages are not real marriages?

As much as you might try, two men will never equal one man one woman. Separate but equal applies.
How is marriage hijacked by two men or two women marrying? How will a gay marriage hurt you? See how that question can be turned around on you, dear?

If I quit paying my property taxes I wonder if I can use that approach? Schools get sued..... aka the state.

What a stupid comment, given that both gay and straight couples have already married and divorced.

Gays aren't allowed to vote? Really?

I did not say that. I asked if you thought women campaigning for the right to vote were somehow attacking traditional voters.

You need to explain how a same-sex marriage is an attack on the traditional family. It is not.

They aren't in the Catholic church's view. Marriages not sanctioned by the the Catholic church aren't "real", which is why I contend that the Pope talking about gay marriage in the civil sense is inconsistent.

What does not paying your property taxes have to do with a person not putting money in the collection basket of the Catholic church?

Withholding financial support to the Vatican is the only language they know and the only act that will get any change in their actions whatsoever. Until that happens they will continue to live in the 13th. Century!

When in some ways you as a parishioner allowed and supported the Catholic church to perpetrate the molestation of thousands of children.

Indeed. If the church wants to hold its own standards for marriage, fine. When it starts wanting government to enforce some of its views of marriage on the general populace, I'm concerned.

At the same time, I find it inconsistent for the church to insist that only opposite-sex marriages should be permitted by the state. Why doesn't it seek to impose its views on the eligibility of divorced people to marry by force of law?

Where did Fang go? I really want to know why he thinks same-sex marriage is an attack on traditional marriage.

That is the question that never gets answered, how does a same sex marriage change anything about a opposite sex marriage? Because it doesn't.

They say that for the usual reason people oppose same-sex marriage. They are gay and the only thing holding back their repressed urge is society's disapproval.

    Calamari--

I don't believe that is always true.
