The House needs to pass measures that would renew unemployment benefits. IF they don't millions of people will be cut off on December 29th. AT least pass something. If oBama vetos it then he can't blame the Republicans. This all or nothing approach isn't working.

Obama is being a good leader. He's doing what his voters want him to do and that is just taxing the rich class. But a great leader would see the need to tax everyone and start cutting spending across the board.

In my mind the Republicans only regain any sort of credibility on fiscal matters when they openly abandon Grover Norquist. I disagree with the Obama administration on numerous things. I didn't vote for him this time around and I wouldn't again for a number of reasons. That being said, from a long term fiscal perspective, he's well within the norm for American presidents over the last 30 years and certainly considerably more responsible than his predecessor. It's the Republican party that apparently thinks a few percentage points on the tax rates of those most able to bear it are somehow worth a 5% contraction in GDP and near certain recession.

If you want to say Obama's being thuggish on this matter, fine, maybe he is. I call it smart politics by forcing his opponents to either compromise or admit to being in the tank for a much smaller and less sympathetic chunk of the citizenry.

“You get nothing,” the president said. “I get that for free.”

Mr. Obama repeatedly lost patience with the speaker as negotiations faltered. In an Oval Office meeting last week, he told Mr. Boehner that if the sides didn’t reach agreement, he would use his inaugural address and his State of the Union speech to tell the country the Republicans were at fault."

This sounds like Al Capone rather than the President of the United States.

He can try to blame the Republicans all he wants but any fool knows that Obama is the problem.
How did your hate work out for you in this past election? Not to many agree with you but than again no one knows why you can hate on a man so much. Afterall he is a minority as you are but than again you have only been gay less than 70 years of you life and the black man has been a victim for over 200 years. The election is over, your man lost and believe me it is the right wingnuts who are ruining this country. Even the moderates from the right are seeing this.

I think the republicans would agree to whatever tax increases Obama wants if he would put some meaningful spending cuts on the table. But Obama wants to spend spend spend. I don't see any reasonable proposals from Obama on cutting spending. I really believe he wants us to go over the "fiscal cliff".

You could tax the rich up to 99% of their income and it wouldn't help without spending cut.

Oh please if you are going to act foolish why bother contributing to this thread. Show me one top drawer economist that says Obama has offered to meaningfully cut spending. Like you know what you are talking about. LMAO.

I have no hate. You certainly have a right to your opinion as do I. Almost 1/2 the country agrees with me. There was no landslide in the past election.

I almost feel sorry by people like you that are consumed by hate. But you desire to spread you hate disgusts me.

Don't waste your "almost sorrys" on me. I don't have any hate. There is no hate apparent. The hate you perceive is a product of your mind, it exists nowhere else. Its a characteristic of the Obama worshiper that if anyone criticizes Obama they go on this ballistic tirade about hate.

I reported what is in the news and what almost 50% of the country think and feel.

I actually feel sorry for you that you are so enchanted and could not see the truth if it hit you on the head. But don't take criticism of your new god as hate, at least not from me.

This is an extremely revealing post.

Your inability to recognize that demopublican is far from being even a moderate Obama supporter displays an astonishing degree of self-centered delusion. Your ability to deny that your comments about the President are rooted in irrational hatred is a clear demonstration of your ability to lie.

speaking of Chicago thugs, have there been any convictions for the murders of Donald Young and Larry Bland? Both attended the Trinity United Church of Christ which the President attended. One would hope Mr. Obama could place some pressure on the investigating authorities to find the murderer(s) and bring them to justice.
