    Default Hodge at it again.

I looked and didnt see another thread on this.

Hodge is at it again with his rants. Seems he is still bitter that Tebow beat his beloved Steelers out of the playoffs last season.

Merril Hoge: 'Tebow as phony as a three dollar bill'

So much for the whole bearing good tidings thing. In a roundtable discussion on Monday morning's SportsCenter, ESPN analyst Merril Hoge went on a rant about New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow, saying that he's "as phony as a three-dollar bill" and that the New York Jets didn't realize "how bad Tim Tebow was" when they traded for him.

I saw the Hoge rant, it was a little strange. The guy's probably a mediocre QB overall that can run a little bit. If you take away his legs, he's not even a mediocre QB, but in the meantime he presents a bit of a threat in some situations. It's not his fault people get so obsessed about him one way or the other. He needs a gimmick offense, and Jacksonville needs him for ticket sales (though at this point some of the luster is probably gone)... that marriage needs to happen this off-season.

The Jets are a flawed organization anyway. Rex is what Rex is. They want the headlines and the drama, they get it. The guy took over a 9-7 team that missed the playoffs, then went 9-7 and made the playoffs. He didn't take over a train wreck and turn it all around, contrary to popular 2009 / 2010 revisionist history. They had a nice run with a solid running game and great defense. Take away some key defensive players (Revis being the top three all by himself) and lose the great power running game, and he's just another coach.

You're right. Rex has to work with what he has. No one expected Sanchez to play so badly. He takes all the heart out of that team. Holmes was their gamebreaker and he was not around. Bad situation.

He totally sucks. I hope he saved and invested his $$ wisely cuz he's seen the paydays he's going to get. He can't play QB in the NFL.

Hodge probably suffering from PTSD since his beloved Steelers not in playoffs and Tebow convenient whipping boy. All the guy wants is to try and play. QB no. Tight end? Who knows. Whole lot of players in NFL not worth a dam. What was Hodge' s stats?

    I saw that yesterday ......

you have to remember that hoge brings nothing to the table other than controversy and pot stirring ......

jaws was giving him crap yesterday for his "whinning" about the steelers being out of the playoffs and told him to take off his steeler underware .....

LOL, my wife was in the same room reading and looked up at hoge and said "who is that pin head" ......

Sanchez sucks because he has no running game of good receivers to throw to.
Tebow hasn't played enough this year to judge him.
I'd trade for him and make him a TE or fullback.

It would be turrrible if Hodge pissed off the powers that be at CBS and was not allowed to call anymore Steeler games. That would be Fitting right?

"Hodge" is actually Hoge. He does not call Steeler games. He is an analyst and a good one. Yes he is a former Steeler and favors them, just like Mel Kiper who acknowledges he is a Raven's fan. Tempest in a teapot.

Hodge is a mediocre analyst much like his was as a RB.

He's a former Steeler but he acts too much like a fan. I saw him two days after the blowout loss to the Ravens on 9/11/11. You would've thought he lost money on the game or had an ownership stake in the team. He was so irate with the Steelers and really angry at the Ravens it was almost too funny to believe.

BTW, Kiper freely admits that he's a Ravens fan but as a college analyst does that really matter? Hodge refuses to admit that he's a Steeler fan but its incredibly clear that he's biased toward them. The Chin is the same way but I think someone's gotten in his ear that he needs to be a tad more objective if wishes to be credible.

Lastly I get why Hodge fancies himself a Steeler even though he left for the Bears because the Steelers thought they had better options. If you've done anything in that organization you are viewed as royal family in Western PA. The appearances and autograph signings are second to none in that area. It's unreal but I get why he's so loyal.

Since Tebow didn't play more than a handful of snaps this year it stands to reason the Jets record is because his teammates are the ones who suck.

anyone who watches the yappity yap on espn or any of the football-related shows is just encouraging this crap.

tell me whose injured, show me some insight into why a play worked or didn't, predict the games and maybe, just maybe give me a little human interest, like players who give back to the community....

all this yappity yap crap is nonsense, and needs to be filed away with anything kardashian, and honey boo-boo.

as for merrill hodge, he should be selling cheap furniture somewhere in the midwest.

I think we often forget that Tebow was one of the greatest college football players ever and has yet to find his niche in the nFL.
