Default Joppa Man Charged in White Marsh Five Guys Armed Robbery

Why was his bail set so low?
    Mass Transit strikes again?

    http://perryhall.patch.com/articles/...-armed-robbery

At about 12:39 a.m. on Dec. 15, after the business had closed, a worker opened the rear door to the restaurant for a man identified by police as 28-year-old Christopher Griggs, a Joppa resident.

According to a police report, Griggs, armed with a revolver, forced the worker who allowed him inside and a second worker to the floor. A third worker ran out of the restaurant and called 911.

Griggs stole more than $2,200 from the cash register, according to police, and was arrested as he attempted to leave the store.

$2200 in the register? Here are t he more important questions:

Why would they keep so much cash on hand?

Why would the newspaper choose to print that information?

I wonder if this POS savage knew about their poor cash management procedures.

demo, he probably did know about the cash. I don't own a business, but over $2K in a register especially today when everyone pays with a card is just stupid.

Do you believe mass transit played a role in this crime? Also, how in the heck did he receive a bail set this low?

Are you able to find headlines of other armed robberies in this jurisdiction or in this state where the bail was that low?

That is a really low bail for an armed robbery.

Dems want to ban guns but when a crime is committed with a gun they let the perp go? When will they learn the real issue is the person not the gun. Commit a crime with a gun, go straight to prison for a min of 25yrs with no possibility for parole. That'll get folks thinking.

Maybe the perp was a move to opportunity citizen, you still have to wonder how did he receive such a low bail? A bail bondsman would take 2% of that and he could back at it again.

I did not see any mention of mass transit. Did you?

What is your point? I never saw anyone say that either all crime or no crime at all was associated with MTA.
I have seen people say that MTA routes can contribute to crime patterns.

I am not really into researching bail levels. I would rather see the guy locked up for 75 years for armed robbery. Frankly I would be ok with capital punishment for armed robbery.

Maybe he was. Do you have a link to suggest that MTO happened in that area or that this specific person was moved to take advantage of a housing subsidy?

No worries, I wonder how many more criminals received $25,000.00 bails for armed robbery in the JustUs system.

Why don't you tell us what it normally is and who gets high vs low bail?

Are you claiming that this POS was given a break?

Hopefully the money can be returned to the business.

Sounds like he was arrested before he even left the property. I would assume so.

That being said I still think anyone who uses a gun, even if it isn't loaded, or isn't even real should automatically receive no bail. But Judges were Lawyers too at one time and they will always try to help other lawyers out before they worry about public safety. Plus I'm sure most Judges receive some kind of financial assistance from the lawyers who can get their clients favorable treatment.

Looks like someone popped the guy a couple of times. I wonder if it was before or after the arrest.

His pic is below the article. Of course he must have mental issues. It was an isolated incident and will never happen again.

Meh, who cares he's caught? Lucky for him though he gets to go to the clean wing with private rooms and HDTV away from the smelly animals and he gets to eat Surf & Turf and not roaches. The bad thing is his Direct TV reception may not be great since the weather is poor.
