It is right there, "But also, they are telling me that profit is bad."

What they are saying is that they want to do something positive for society, make the world a better place, et cetera. That could be anything from Greenpeace to Doctors Without Borders to a legal aid society.

I would much rather see a bunch of kids telling me that they want to work for non-profits than a bunch of kids telling me they want to work for Goldman Sachs but that's just me.
The article says none of this as the guest says the college kids haven't narrowed anything down more specific than a non profit for the simple reason that they stated, which again, is, "But also, they are telling me that profit is bad."

There is nothing wrong with working for a non-profit but if your only reason for doing so is a belief that profit is bad then you're tragically mistaken to the point of being surreal.

College-age kids and teenagers being idealistic. Big wup!

You should have seen what generation-X, the "slacker" generation used to be like.

There will be plenty of opportunity for more reality checks in the lives of these young people. In the meantime, the farmer can use them for their labor, and they will get some money and valuable work-experience from it.

But they come with no idea about how capitalism works, even though capitalism is the economic system of our country.
It is a commonly held myth that the economic system of the United States is entirely a capitalist system. The obvious fact, once you get around the dogmatic capitalist propaganda, is that the United States economic system is, and always has been, a mixed economy. The success of America's economy is not due to pure capitalism, but rather, to balancing capitalism with proper government regulation as well as social charity.

You don’t have any more direction than that you want to work for a non-profit? But also, they are telling me that profit is bad.
The suggestion that profit is always bad is just as naive as the suggestion that profit is always good. There are times when it is proper to seek a profit and there are times when it would be immoral to seek profit. It is no coincidence that psychopaths are drawn to high-profit positions of power and they avoid charitable institutions.
