There are no "inspection" requirements on NFA weapons. Owning one does not give the ATF ANY rights to visit, examine or inspect your home or NFA weapon.
Anything they want to do with an individual in regards to a NFA weapon requires a warrant.
Edit - they can ask you to prove you paid your $200 NFA transfer tax and demand to see the document, but anything else they ask you can say "get a warrant." Private citizens are under no obligation to submit to any ATF inspections, NFA or not. Dealers only.
