The way people around here talk, you would think that shooting someone with a gun isn't already illegal.

To play the devil's advocate here, let's assume you are on the jury in this case. Do you convict at all, or convict of a lesser charge and with lower penalty since no gun was used to commit this murder?

Same baloney comparison is used with cars, etc.

Get back to us when assault weapons are necessary to conducting life's necessities ....like going to work, getting food, etc.

    Assault weapons are non-essential toys.

There are a lot of shootings with pellet guns every year too

Some also talk as if 100,000+ shootings per year are acceptable

What does this have to do with guns?

Neither of which prevents crime. The Metro police are more concerned about hitting on women than doing their job and the video cams MIGHT help catch the criminals after they've murdered someone.

Just want to see if your special disdain for guns would translate into a conviction if no gun was used in the murder.

This kind of stuff is exceedingly rare.

The fact that it has happened at least three times since the 90's and these two incidents are so close together will tend to put people on edge.

Sputtering/self-talking lunatics on subway platform will now enjoy a wide berth!
