Default Man charged with lying to police after missing 17 yo girl is found

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/mar...,1446459.story

A 17-year-old girl has been found after being missing through the Christmas holidays, and her 23-year-old boyfriend has been charged with lying to Baltimore County police during their search for her, police said Thursday.

David C. Givens, of the 3700 block of Timahoe Circle in Nottingham, was charged with one count of a false statement to police officers in their search for Aria White, police said.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children had listed White as having gone missing Dec. 22, after last being seen at the White Marsh Mall.

I saw posts about the missing girl a couple of days ago on Facebook. The family did a great job of getting the word out.

This scumbag needs to be behind bars. And the girl needs to reflect on some very bad decisions she is making in her life.

Stupid to lie to police. He should have remained silent.

The bad thing is Police can lie to suspects and face no action for the lie.

Givens has been released on his own recognizance, police said
His hair cut alone should have been reason enough to hold him on without bail.

    *** is he thinking?

I agree with you, can anyone explain why the police can lie on a taped confession and that can still be submitted as evidence but this guy can be charged for lying to them?
This happens all the time, cops will lie with stuff like we found your DNA at the crime scene and so and so told us you did it completely bluffing and numbnut thug will say "you got me, I did it" and he's toast.

Unless there's more to this story than reported, it sounds like a colossal waste of time.

Miranda has been around for a long time. Maybe the "numbnut thugs" should spend some time at the library, read up on it and avoid those situations. It's really not that complicated.

Yes it's not complicated, I have never been arrested but I know to NEVER talk to the police without an attorney present.
Where in Miranda do they say they have the right to lie but it's a crime to lie to them?
Its just ironic that you would think the way the bill of rights checks authoriity you would expect those in law enforcement to be held to a higher standard and if it's illegal to lie to the police it should also be illegal for them to lie to a suspect. I'm sure the police and prosecutors would hate people even mentioning this because they depend so much on the numbnut thugs hanging themselves to get a conviction
