Why don't you? Also, not being a smartarse. You said you "love Boston"?
I suspect, like me, your job keeps you here?
Maybe when I retire, I will. But until then, I am home. Kudzu is not.
One thing I do really love about Maryland is boating on the Severn and Chesapeake. Hard to beat that.
Lived in Stow? loved it there for visiting of course, beautiful place though.
.......back to the topic.......
I find it disgusting that I am forced to watch 9 or 10 basketball games and 5-7 football games by hooking my laptop up to an HDMI input on my reciever.
Granted the basketball games are against Del State and DeVry institute Chantilly, but still....
when I am scanning the channels and see Comcrap channel and MaSN showing the likes of UMBC vs UMES and Howard vs East BF college while the TERPS are relegated to "interweb only" status, I think that UMD did the right thing leaving the ACC.
How many games do dook & unc fans have to watch via their respective computer-machines?
I think the big10 network will work something out with a regional carrier like DC20 or 50 to carry the football AND basketball games.
Unless your cable package is drastically different than mine, I think you are grossly over-exaggerating. I think maybe 2 football games weren't on TV and there's been only a few basketball games that haven't been on TV here.
I think basically ESPN gets a number of exclusive games and if they get bumped to ESPN3, then there's nothing anyone can do about it.
I for one think Slap has a lot to offer. His insight on the prep as well as youth and college level is intriging. I think he is a homer for SP sports but than again he is from that area. I give him props for his knowledge in HS sports and their is very little he doesn't know about this level. As a youth lover of sports it is refreshing to read what he says about youth sports. I like the Buccaneer Program myself but that is because I live in that area. I like the MIAA as well but Slap like the pubs and that is understood. Some of you guys just are wanna be jocks who really have never played a game in your life or sat the bench and get off on what you think you know about sports. Kind of remind me of that sports show on Sunday morning where the little reporters and the real fat guy think they know how a player thinks and feels. I think it was called the sports reporters. Now sit back and blast away but I think Slap knows more about sports and usually backs his opinion up with links and facts. Some of you just wish you knew what he does.
I have never claimed to be an expert or a jock. Quite simply because I am neither.
AFAN -
Thanks for the nice words.
I'm not sure how knowledgable I am, but what I do try to bring to the discussion is a different perspective than many on this Forum. What I definitely don't do, is to look for affirmation by going along with prevailing opinions. This Forum already has enough of these types of posters who need to fit in, and who need affirmation from other posters. I don't. Could care less. Been that way since joining in 2002. As such, I can often be confrontational. But I make no apologies for that. That's my style.
In the words of Jim Rome (whom I like and admire his style) - "Have a take, and just don't suck". Jim is a controversial and abrasive guy, but he gets listeners to think, and to respond with passionate takes of their own. Vanilla is not in Rome's vocabulary, nor mine.
Peace.
