    Default Ravens vs Colts thread

Recent history would tell us Ravens fans that this game is a slam dunk for the Ravens. The Colts remind me a lot of the Dolphins , chiefs, houston, pats, and tennesse. These are teams the Ravens have beaten in the past in the playoffs who were upincoming teams who were not great but good. The Pats stunk that year without Welker. I dont like this matchup at all. The colts have the two bookend De's that have always giving us problems and Pagano knows the Ravens really well. Plus Luck is the real deal and should be able to get the ball to Reggie Wayne. Finally this Ravens team is who they are good but not great and don't handle being a favorite very well. I'm picking the Ravens because they are at home but if its close inthe 4th I like the Colts. 23-14 Ravens

Lets be logical about this. The Ravens lost 3 of the last 4 games by a combined 12 points. Additionally in the last 2 weeks the defense without 4-5 starters has held the teams under 200 yards total offense. The Colts 7-1 at home 4-4 on road with around -68 pts on the road. A dome team playing outdoors in January with that kind of a split and a lot of rookies at key positions stand little chance to be honest

The Ravens CRUSH the Colts at home by a minimum of 2 TDs bank on it!

After that chances are we are done.

Saying we are going to CRUSH a team coached by our former DC with fast DE's and a better QB is logical? More likely is that we grind it out on the ground taking advantage of Indy's poor rushing defense and negating the speed of their smallish DE's. Hope that nets us out a victory in the 3-7 point margin.

Colts only 3 wins against teams .500 or better by a combined 18 points all at home. Colts are not a good road team and they are young and inexperienced. The fast DE's you refer to are more hype than substance kind of like Ray and Ed these days. Mathis 8 sacks and Freeney 5 aren't exactly strinking fear anymore.

It's a 2 TD+ margin. We are home key players rested and ready to go. Defense actually playing better lately. Offense less predictable and yes we'll run the ball and throw at key times. I just don't see it being much of a game. We can revisit next Monday!

as one who loves to quote stats...in which world is a QB who completes only 54% of his passes better than the one who completes 58%? How can a QB with a 76.5 QB rating be better than a guy with a 87.7?? more JF hate with the usual lack of reasoning thrown in...

DE's with less sacks that Paul Kruger should also be feared....

    1. Coaching will play a major role in the final outcome. (Advantage Colts)
    2. QBs will play a major role in the final outcome. (Advantage Colts)
    3. Emotion/momentum will play a minor role in the final outcome. (Advantage Colts)

    Colts: 11-5
    Ravens: 10-6

    Advantage: Colts.

    Happy New Year!

I believe that Pagano's input will be a factor in the game. He knows the players on the Raven's defense, knows what they do well and where their weaknesses are. He also knows the offense somewhat from coaching against it during practices. But that's really the only advantage I can give the Colts. They've had an incredible season, fueled by emotion for their coach. And it's possible that might continue for one game. But the Raven's are the better team, and they are playing at home where they are tough to beat. I think they should beat the Colts, but this is the type of game that can produce a big upset if they aren't careful.

It doesn't always work out, but for the most part, teams that play to win tend to win, and teams that play not to lose tend to lose. The Colts are geared to play to win; the Ravens are geared to play not to lose. The game will most likely boil down to a few critical plays. Historically, the Ravens tend to come up short in those types of games, mainly due to mediocre/scared coaching. I don't see that pattern changing come Sunday. Even though the Ravens are favored by 6.5, I don't think too many people will be surprised to see the Colts win, or even call it an "upset". It should be a great game either way.

BTW, I don't hear any calls anymore for re-seeding of playoff teams. A couple of years ago, when the 12-4 Ravens had to go to the 10-6 Chiefs there were a lot of claims at how unfair it was. There were calls for re-seeding once the playoffs were determined. If the NFL had instituted that policy, the 10-6 Ravens would be going to 11-5 Indianapolis next week instead of having a home playoff game.

True. The problem with re-seeding (and why, imho it won't be done) is that it makes it far harder to plan the playoff tickets.

If the Ravens play a decent game defensively, they'll win. If Luck gets time to throw and starts picking the secondary apart, then there's going to be problems. Offensively, I think the Ravens will score at least 24-27 points and I do think that will be enough. It's never pretty with Baltimore but they'll grind out a 1st round victory.... Ravens 27; Colts 20.

With the way Rice and Pierce are running, the Ravens should be able to put on an old-school running clinic against the Colts.

Not sure who has the momentum at this point, but Baltimore plays tough at home. The match-up at LT concerns me, but I'm still giving the Ravens the edge.

    Baltimore in OT by 3.

I think the Ravens win by 2 TDs or more

    a pick 6
and Ray Rice has a monster day

    IMO,
the Ravens are home and better on both sides of the ball

I look for us to put up 30 or more on the Colts

I'm not sure how it will ened up, but if the Ravens do win, that next game will be the last of the season. They had their best shot last year in NE and the dropped TD pass and the missed tying field goal sealed it for them. I know for sure they will never get past either Denver or NE this year.

You know for sure? I think it is at least within the realm of possibility to get past NE. Denver, eh, not so much. I guess since you know for sure though that you will be rich within two weeks. Congrats!

I'm seeing the Colts winning 27-17.
