Obviously it's about the talent on the roster. Caldwell went 24-8 in IND with Peyton Manning at QB. He went 2-14 with guys like Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky, then got fired. Bring back those two QBs in 2012, and there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that Arians / Pagano are preparing for a playoff game this week.

And for what it's worth, Belichick's records as HC the two years prior to Brady's ascension were 5-11, and 5-11. He was 5-13 in New England before Bledsoe got broken.

Obviously this is a QB driven league. And it seems as if the more recent crops of QBs have been having a higher success rate than previous groups. Maybe part of that is because some college programs are gearing up more towards NFL caliber schemes, and possibly the NFL is beginning to incorporate more college type options schemes. Maybe that combo is resulting in more success for college QBs entering the NFL. Regardless, it seems as if it's not quite as much a total crap shoot picking a rookie QB as it used to be. Therefore, teams are not quite as likely to wallow in obscurity after having brought in a top flight rookie QB.

Reports out of southern CA of an earthquake have been refuted. Sources say it's just the collective celebration in SD upon hearing that the Chargers have officially parted ways with Turner and AJ Smith.

    7 coaches fired already today:

Gailey, Reid, Schumer, Lovie, Romeo, Norv, and Whisenhunt.

One will become Baltimore's new OC next season - I predict Norv.
