I didn't think James Franklin had it in him. I'm sure if Debbie Yow had the opportunity, she's say, "I told you so."

Apparently Franklin's stock is rising....he's apparently been looked t by a number of more prestigious programs thn Vandy.

But can he beat the top programs in the SEC? If he can do that, I say he will be snatched away from Vandy.

Maryland should have let Fridge coach out his contract and hired Franklin instead of that hiring that loser Edsall. The current Maryland head coach will get a grade of incomplete for the 2012 season, because of all the injuries to his team, including going through 4 quarterbacks and having to have a converted linebacker start at that position for a few games.

The Terps should have kept him.
They will never compete in the Big Ten with the boob running the show now.

I heard Debbie Yow wanted Franklin at NC State. Apparently he has greater ambitions. If Bill O'Brien goes pro as rumored via Internet, perhaps Franklin's next stop will be Penn State.

Friedgen should've been fired after going 2-10 in his next to final season. But MD's mighty but cheap boosters were nowhere to be found like after Tyser Tower was upgraded and expanded.

MD will be competitive in B1G, just not at the level of the tier 1 B1G football programs. There's simply no committment or passion for MD football.

When the Terps start play in the B1G, I expect Byrd Stadium attendance will go up, but only because of the many Big Ten school alumni in the DC area filling the place up to watch their schools play.

True. But I wouldn't mind watching Penn State (old MD rival), Nebraska, OSU or even Wisconsin play in College Park. As for the other B1G schools, I'd prefer watching the lessor ACC football programs. At least MD has history with those programs.

I don't know why people didn't think Franklin wouldn't do well at Maryland. He's a great recruiter, a hell of a X's and O's guy, and has NFL coaching experience. He's won 9 games at Vanderbilt!!! Maryland is going to regret not keeping him.

That would be interesting...especially given that Maryland will soon be competing in the Big Ten.

IIRC, Franklin was handpicked by Debbie Yow to succeed Friedgen. And pro-MD posters here by and large hate Debbie Yow.

As for myself, I wasn't impressed by the caliber of MD's competition during Friedgen's last year. The 8-4 record and the subsequent accolades Friedgen received after the season doesn't reflect how bad the competition/ACC was that year.

    No, they won't.

They will be in the B(P)ig Ten, but they won't be competing.

What would you know about college football?

    Answ: Nothing

What do you know about the Big Ten?

    Answ: Less than nothing.

And you call yourself a fan?

Oh wait, you left UMCP. Never graduated from there. Flunked out.

    So why do you care?

    Troll on, trailer trash.

Dropped out. That's different than flunking out.

And when I slum myself into a teaching gig at a Pig Ten college, then perhaps you'll have something to lord over me.

    But not today...
