Default Everything We Tell Ourselves About America and the World Is Wrong

Why we need a new story that gives meaning to the world.

We often talk about the "right-wing betaverse" which so many conservatives inhabit these days. We joke about them being stuck in the 50s or 60s sitcom world, where everything was peachy keen.

This author takes it a few steps further, and ponders the effects of believing fantasy in the face of reality.

Eh, I'd say that anybody that began w his belief system was bound to be disappointed by a little thing called reality, and that the disillusionment of fools is no more prominent now than it was 30 years ago.

To suggest that the mass disillusionment of Western Civilization is a new phenomena is just foolish and wrong. I'm sorry I have a historical perspective that extends beyond "Good Times."
