There are other routes to becoming an officer besides OCS.

He didn't tell anybody how to think or feel, he simply stated how he feels.

I still think Col. Nathan R. Jessep said it better:

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said "Thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

Jessup paid the price for his way of thinking. Perhaps Boston is willing to pay the price too.

Freakin' zips. Always had to knock them off their elite pedestal. Then re-potty train them.

Maybe its time to required gun owners to carry liability insurance, if you own a weapon and take it off your private property.

Motor vehicle owners are mandated by law to purchase insurance if they take a motor vehicle off their private property.

    That's not a bad idea.

I'd be all for holding gun owners responsible legally if their guns are used in a crime.

What particular freedom was the mythical Col. Jessep defending along the base perimeter in Cuba?

Up until 1964 the government of Cuba was supplying the base with drinking water.

Not too long ago Cuban citizens worked on the base.

Anywho, the 2nd amendment says citizens have the right to bear arms.

In what way, shape, or form, does registering those weapons infringe upon that right?
I guess in the same way making someone show ID to vote.

I don't have a problem w that, if it's implemented properly, w enough time for compliance, and there are no fees required.

But that isn't what we're talking about. Try to keep up.

It absolutely is what we are talking about. Opponents to voter ID laws point out that it's their Constitutional right to vote. However, the same people are arguing for stricter gun control. Yet, 2nd amendment says we have a right to bear arms. You can't argue both points and not be a hypocrite.

You have a right to vote, and not pay to do it.

You have a right to bear arms, yet you're required to spend money to do that. Unless you think it's the govt.'s job to hand out free weapons to citizens.

I can think of thousands of items I can buy and not have to show ID. In your argument, if the gun was given to me as gift I should not have to register it or tell anyone I have it? That's one heck of a loophole.

Inherent in the right to bear arms is the cost of purchasing the weapon and whatever registration fees are required.

The idea that you don't see the difference between NOT paying to vote, and paying a tax/registration fee/insurance on a weapon is startling to me.

I see you avoided my point. What if the gun was a gift? In your argument I should not have to register it or tell anyone I have it because there was no purchase associated with it.

No, I didn't avoid you "point."

It is the responsibility of whoever purchases the gun to pay the required fees.
