I'll do this real slow for you again.

    1. Obama provides a SS tax break.

    2. Obama extends that SS tax break in the face of GOP opposition.

    3. The tax break expires.

(Little hint: 4. - to a reasonable, logical person, isn't Obama hiked taxes.)

It takes both sides working together. While it is a great thing that they actually avoided the huge tax hikes, etc., let's not kid ourselves the Republicans did so for mature reasons. They had no intention of accepting the Senate bill, but they were in a corner.

They saw the writing on the wall that the majority of Americans would have blamed them if no bill would be voted on/approved. These were the same Republicans who contemplated sending amendments back to the Senate, and they would have if time was on their side...it wasn't and neither was public opinion on their side. They either voted for the Senate bill or faced a backlash back home. They went on board because they want to keep their jobs.

And Biden was the main force behind the bi-partisan bill that saved our country (for now) from the fiscal cliff threat. He may be a man that provides many gaffes in the public spotlight, but when times are tough, he comes through shining.
I wouldn't use the term saved. He and McConnell avoided some tax increases, but no one has done anything even remotely that could be classified as saving anything.

Biden is an ABC gut ALWAYS BE CLOSING. When he first became a Senator he was taught by Mike Mansfield to make friends. It explains why he spoke at Storm Thurmond's funeral and was asked to attend Jesse Helms funeral in 2008.
Credit Obama for letting Biden take the lead and making a deal. Even Grover supported the deal.

The GOP took a worse beating on this than they did on election day. Pelosi has more balls than Boenher!
