While lawmakers can be satisfied knowing that they helped stave off a fiscal crisis, the road to an agreement wasn't always so peaceful.

Politico reported that Senate Democrat Harry Reid drew the ire of House Speaker John Boehner when the two came face-to-face last Friday - when a fiscal cliff deal was anything but in sight.

Sources told the blog that Boehner, pointing at Reid, said: 'Go f*** yourself.'
When a stunned Reid could only reply, 'What are you talking about?' Boehner said again: 'Go f*** yourself.'

Reducing the SS tax contribution for workers and for businesses that employ them was irresponsible. The contributions are for the purpose of paying retirement to workers that have contributed over their lifetimes. Restoring the tax was the responsible thing to do. Also, raising taxes on those with higher incomes is a responsible thing as well. Cutting expenditures will be hard to do but with some effort congress should be able to make some adjustments that will help get the budget improved without destroying the country and the way of life we should be enjoying. The extremists at either end should be vacated...they contribute little other than rhetoric and enjoy their greed.

Notice that immature Harry Reid has contributed nothing constructive. It took Biden, a salty ole democrat to step in front of Harry to lead, McConnell, a republican to work with him and Boehner, a republican, to pull off this first step. Reid, Pelosi, Cantor, and a few others at the fringes of mental extremes really need to retire.

So Obama initially enacted the tax break, got it extended for a year in the face of Republican opposition, and let it expire, and he's responsible for a tax "hike?"

See, this is the beta-verse so many are talking about. Sheer delusion and insanity.

Since Obama and Democrats will most certainly take credit for 'cutting' the income taxes of millions of Americans by not letting the Obama tax cuts sunset, I believe it is only fair to call this his tax hike as well.

Instead of acting like 6th grade girls and worry who's going to say what about what, why don't we try to act like responsible, informed citizens and call things what they are???

If I said Go F yourself while at work, I'd be disciplined.

    That's too difficult for politicians

The simple facts are that the government needs tax revenue to pay for stuff and that no tax rates are permanent...

It was set in 1984 but it supposedly is indexed for inflation. Therefore, if they would stop messing with the inflation numbers to show them better than they really are, the cap would have gone up more.

Are you saying that taxes are not going up on the middle class in 2013? And you want to call things what they are. Indeed.

I'm saying the SS tax now is the same as it was when Obama took office, so he didn't raise the SS tax.

Is that clear enough for you?

Failure to act and taking action are often the same side of the coin, as in the situation at hand.

WT F does that even mean?

So unless Obama is actively lowering taxes he is in fact raising them?

I'm not sure where you got this idea from but I don't agree with it. I will however, defend your right to hold that opinion.

    I got it from you.

You suggested Obama's failure to lower taxes was actually a tax hike.

I know; I know. It sounds insane.

I absolutely did not suggest that. Perhaps you are having difficulty with the topic at hand?

No, I have a firm grasp on it.

You seem to have a problem w simple logic.

Perhaps you can explain it to me.

The SS tax is the same now as when Obama took office.

So how in the world is that a tax hike?

The tax rate is rising from 4% to 6% from 2012 to 2013. Perhaps you are lucky (or unlucky) enough to not have to contribute payroll taxes; however, for the rest of us middle class Americans that do pay payroll taxes, Obama's failure to maintain existing tax rates on the middle class equates to a massive tax hike. As I mentioned in the original post, the typical American family will pay an additional $1000 in taxes in 2013. My household will pay an additional $2000 or so this year over last year.

If you are still having difficulty, I can give it one more shot. Otherwise, you're on your own and best of luck.
