Default The Ravens are a 'dangerous' playoff team and have a shot!

    When you combine:

    - a potent, deep running attack with the ability to stretch the field (you can't stack the box against the Ravens)
    - a peaking defense (where did these effective CBs come from?)
    - a dynamic (big play potential) special teams
    - playoff toughness/experience

This team has a legitimate chance at getting hot and running the table.

    =======================================

    The 2 risk factors:

    1) If Joe has a cold game where he overthrows his receivers every other play.
    2) Dumb head coach decisions (again) - use/non use of timeouts, punting when you must go for it, wasted timeouts/reviews on obvious non reversable reviews, etc.

I predict #2 will be the death of the Ravens this post-season.

    On any given Sunday...

(However, when I look at the situation I see a close game, and close games come down to coaching. That's where I feel the Ravens come up short.)

All of us around here are aware of Harbaugh's shortcomings. But, we don't actually know much about Arians' or Pagano's. Are they stronger at clock management and choosing when to dispute a call? Is there even enough body of evidence to know that one way or another?

Yes the ravens are dangerous but are going to possibly need to beat Luck, Manning, brady and Rogers. If they do that would be impressive. Maybe 4 HOFers. I dont think the 2000 Defense could do that.

Ray Lewis' announcement today will have a big impact come Sunday my friend.

The Ravens are going to be fine.
The Colts aren't ready for prime time.

Also, the Ravens are going to be fired up with Ray retiring.

It will have an impact. No doubt. Just not enough to overcome consistently mediocre coaching on the part of Harbaugh and his staff. IMO, of course.

The players will overcome that you can believe that plus the home crowd backing them up. I know you don't like Harbaugh but please put your issues aside for this week at least. Do you still have a soft spot for the Colts?

The Ravens should beat the Colts on Sunday because they are the better team and they are playing at home where they have played extremely well for most of the last 5 years. Their running game can push the Colts rush defense around. The emotion of Ray Lewis announcement will also be a factor and will likely have them very pumped up. But none of that is going to help them the following week when they will be on the road against one of the two best QB's in the league. They have shown vulnerabilities in the passing defense against all but the weakest QB's this year, and that isn't going to change. The emotion of this weekend also poses a possibility of being a negative next weekend. Emotion is a hard thing to control. Playing at a higher level this weekend could very well leave them somewhat flat next weekend. We've seen this before with the Ravens. (Check their week after Pittsburgh results over the past several years.) I believe they win on Sunday, but it ends the following week as the NFL gets exactly what it wants: Brady vs. Manning in the AFCC.

LOL. A soft spot? Sugar...the Colts are my #1 team; the Ravens my #2 team. So yeah...I have a "soft spot" alright.

And no...I'm not willing to put aside my Harbaugh "issues" -- at least not until after the game if/when he proves me wrong. Until then, I believe he's the weakest link in the Ravens chain.

(Only 4 more days til judgement day, my friend!!)

    I would expect nothing less!!

Looking forward to a great game. And may the best team win.

(And mark my word -- if the Ravens win I'll be right here giving props.)
