Hard to say what Ed will do. But we know he isn't half the player he once was, he has a risky injury to play with AND he is fed up with the BS from the league in terms of penalties and how they are calling the game now.

We've got some defensive backs filling in now who look promising.

That $7m should be spent on the OL.

I'd be okay with bringing him back for a lesser amount next year and have him play only on certain packages where he can use his ball hawking skills best -- third and long situations. And, at the same time he can be coaching the younger guys in the secondary.

Ed's gone too. He talks about it all the time during the off season and it would be hard to imagine him wanting to play knowing that big bruh ain't coming back. No contract either.. Done deal.

If he has any sense in his head, he'd retire. He obviously can't stay healthy anymore, refuses to tackle on a consistent basis, and has taken full advantage of being one of the "untouchables." Let's hope he takes Lewis' lead and does the right thing. It's time for the team to move on and it's admirable that Ray realized that. Come on, Ed...pull the sheet over this farce and get on with your life. (well, unless you can get a lot of money elsewhere. )

I think he'll be a Patriot provided they can pay him enough. Remember Ed may still be chasing a ring and the Pats will be in the thick of it.

The hoddie and Brady have always loved him and his role will be simple.......

Take away the deep throws and pick off as many passes as possible. The more possessions for Brady the more that offense scores.

He'll also be the leader of that defense and stay stuff like 'Its great to finally be on a team where every turnover gets turned into points and the defense doesn't have to be counted on to win. This is the best team and org. I've ever played on.'
