Default Andy Harris votes against aid to his constituents

The vote was to approve aid to Sandy victims. This is unbelievable, even from the state's lone right-wing moonbat in congress.
Marching to the Tea Party tune, even though the people he represents would benefit. If you're in his district, remember this in 2014. I sure will.

    Good for him.
Too much pork in that bastard.
Congress needs to stop jamming bills for of pork and unrelated items and than slamming anyone that does not support to bill as opposing the originals intent.

If you read the bill (something most in Congress can't even do) you will find MASSIVE amounts of pork.

I am not upset about helping out those Sandy victims, but we need a Congress who will draft a bill to do ONLY that.

I am proud that Mr Harris did the right thing and voted down a bill that would not have helped actual victims. (I'd vote for him again, but since the last re-districting came out, I think I am in a district somewhere on Mars).

This bill was loaded with hundreds of millions of pork that had nothing to do with Sandy or the poeple affected by it.. Thats why he voted against it. I'm glad that there are still a few people in Washington that have the brains and balls to do the right thing.

It's a portion of the big bill

The measure is the first, and least controversial, portion of a much larger aid package sought by the affected states to help homeowners and local governments recover costs associated with the storm. The House has pledged to take up the balance of the aid package on Jan. 15.

I agree with the others that think he did the right thing, Paul.

These types of bills are never passed without massive waste and added pork.

Paul, can you cite the damages and dollar losses to folks in Harris' district incurred by Sandy? If you could, it would make your position somewhat legit. Can you justify the added BS attached to the spending bill?

If you can't do those things, you need to look at your position and consider it from a non-partisan angle, minus the "moon bat" and tea party references...

In the House, all of the votes against the aid came from Republicans, who have objected that no cuts in other programs had been identified to pay for the measure despite the nation’s long-term deficit problem.

How does this vote adversely affect his constituents? I think MD's request for federal assistance was denied.

And what about all the Democrats both in Annapolis and representing Maryland (or shall I say representing MoCo, PG, and Bmore City) in Congress who are going against American values when they suppport abortion, Obamacare, taxes, and illegal immigration and oppose the death penalty?

Id be interested in knowing how many of the people affected by Sandy had private insurance. If they did and their insurer covered their loss than any additional monies from the governnent, ie taxpayers, would be a windfall not needed compensation. Of course if any politician brought up that issue than im sure Chuckie Schumer would do his usual huffing and puffing accusing dem mean Republicans of being heartless.

Federal aid to disaster victims also covers things that are not convered by home insurance, and includes loans that are to be paid back, in addition to repairs to infrastucture, clean~up of hit areas, emergency housing of those displaced, and other care needs that include medical and humanitarian.

If people are accusing the Republican~controlled House of intentionally holding off on the issue despite the need for assistance, then they would be correct ~ which is why Governor Christie was so angry and why the Speaker suddenly decided to backtrack on the earier decision.

Why not be angry at the people from both parties that clogged the bill up with pork?

Until we do that the system remains broken.

Fair enough. But do you really think those loans, will be paid back? Also the way government funds are handed out do you really think anyone will be checking to make sure money is not paid to persons who have already been paid by a private insurer? I mean this is the same government that runs the postal system that sucks billions from taxpayers year in and out.
