Being "government run" does not mean you can say or write whatever you want.

Black or African American is considered a race, like Caucasian Asian, Latino, Native American, etc.....gay is not considered a race, therfore gays using the Civil Rights movement of the 20th century as a benchmark for their struggles is not a valid argument.

She has a point, and apparently her point upset the local militant gay agitators at her University. Once they sick their attack dogs on someone, no matter how baseless the attack, it is often easier to give THEM what they want (sooooo tolerant of differing opinions, those militant gay agenda types) and deal with the civil lawsuit from those who were targeted than to stand up for what is correct, true and right.

Uhh.. African American is NOT considered a race... SMH well.. maybe to the ignorant, but not to the rest of us. I never get past the first sentence of your posts without you saying something so off the wall I find it pointless to continue on. I don't think I've read a whole post of yours in at least 2 years...

The University has the right to fire her and they don't have to give a reason. If she can show that her firing was against public policy she might have a case, but from what I've read so far, she has no case.

either you personally have it out for me, and refuse to accept my factual(not always in line with your thinking, but factual) posts, or you are simply an angry librat troll sent to this site to try and torpeedo therads. Either way, Marhsa, you are wrong. In the 2010 Census, you know the one overseen by your hero obama, just as I indicated above, the "Official U.S. Gubment classification for what used to be called "Negroe" or "Negro" is now "Black or African American"

"The Census Bureau collects race and Hispanic origin information following the U.S. Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) standards for collecting and tabulating data on race and ethnicity. In October 1997, the OMB issued the current standards, which identify five race groups: white, black or African-American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander. The Census Bureau also utilized a sixth category — “some other race.” Respondents who reported only one race are shown in these six groups."

    http://www.census.gov/2010census/new...b11-cn123.html

I expect an apology for the unfounded personal attack.

I guess you are calling obama, his OMB and everyone who deals in race ignorant?

Uhh..yeah if you're AMERICAN...an ethnicity.. NOT a race. If you're a black Brit or Jamaican or Cameroonian etc...etc.. you AIN'T African American... duh. Race knows no geographic boundaries. Ethnicities and nationalities do.

Least I got through your whole first paragraph this time...

Maybe one day you'll get me through a full post of yours...

take your inability to cope with the gubment's classification up with them. I for one check "other" and write in "human" on all applications demanding diversity information.

but back to the thread, the woman in question is right. Gay is not a race

The "gubment"'s classification is fine. YOU'RE the one that's claiing African American a race. not the fgovt.

The question on the census form is fine. That's why they have this disclaimer for people like you...

The racial categories included in the census questionnaire generally reflect a social definition of race recognized in this country and not an attempt to define race biologically, anthropologically, or genetically. In addition, it is recognized that the categories of the race item include racial and national origin or sociocultural groups. People may choose to report more than one race to indicate their racial mixture, such as “American Indian” and “White.” People who identify their origin as Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish may be of any race.

THat's right gay is not a race, but so what. Does that mean gays should not be allowed to pursue civil rights? Martin Luther King's wife believe that gays had every right to demand their civil rights and likened their struggle to the struggle of Black Americans.

She lost her 6th District appeal; she was described by the judges' opinion as having spoken on policy opinions relating to her job in hiring at the University of Toledo. Her statements were at odds with University policy.

THANK YOU Crystal Dixon!!! I've been saying all along comparing the rights of gays to civil rights is an absolute disgrace. She got it right. So why was she fired???

Gays and blacks fight/fought for civil rights, equal rights, to be equal in the eyes of the law, no special treatment or different rights, just what is promised to every other person. How can think possibly be viewed as anything but the same?

Oh yes, when Coretta Scott King (what the hell does she know about the civil rights movement?!?) spoke out in support of gay civil rights, she was absolutely disgraceful.

In many states, gays can be denied jobs or housing merely due to their sexual orientation. For a long time, gays were arrested for merely hanging out at a gay bar under charges of sodomy. You don't think employment and housing are rights?

According to the appellate court, she was rightfully fired because she submitted an op-ed for publication that was counter to University policy representing herself in her University job.

There was never any doubt that she was rightfully fired. She stood up for what she believed but such actions have consequences.

Yes a curse, I can't even walk in La Fontaine Bleue without my behind being kneaded like a fine French bread or pizza dough. It's horrible I tell you, for want of 300 lbs of dimpled cellulite and kankles like the Obama voters.

This black woman makes an excellent point.

Whether endowed by her creator or evolution, that's what she is. Undeniably. Unchangably.

Wake me when the pillow biting or carpet munching gene is found.*

I seperate the two merely because the homosexual community does. i.e "gays and lesbians"...
