A 7-month-old boy died last week after being hospitalized Dec. 31 with rib fractures and other injuries, making the child the first homicide victim of 2013.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, but confirmed that Kendall Browne, who was born in May, died on Jan. 3. Child protective services had contacted police on New Year's Eve, saying the child was in the University of Maryland's pediatric center with multiple injuries and was unlikely to survive.
The child lived in the 3900 block of Penhurst Ave., but police said the homicide occurred at his grandmother's house in the 5600 block of Sagra Road, in Northeast Baltimore's Woodbourne Heights neighborhood. Anthony Guglielmi, the Police Department's chief spokesman, said police were interviewing family members and have a person of interest.
