Default MD Legislators Planning Proposal to Raise Gas Tax...Again

I don't know about you, but, my first bi-weekly paycheck of 2013 has been cut by almost $80.00 thanks to the 2% hike in the payroll tax. The PSC is already talking about raising utility rates. Gasoline prices are on the rise again and are expected to continue to do so. And the second shoe hasn't dropped yet when the new Congress votes on the debt ceiling in March. So where do these buffoons in Annapolis think we're going to come up with money for a gas tax increase? And aren't the casinos bringing in money hand-over-fist by the millions to the tune of $42.5 MILLION in November and now $45 MILLION in December? Where's all THAT freakin' money going? It sure ain't going into the promised education bucket because the schools are falling apart and teachers still have to pay for their own supplies. And it sure as hell ain't going to the Transportation Fund that OWE'Malley and his croines raised last year. Who's BS-ing who here?

It's not going to happen anytime soon... Why are you posting a onth old article??

    Here's something more recent...

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/...46f_story.html

Kasemeyer, chair of the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee, noted that Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) has yet to fill a vacancy in his cabinet for transportation secretary. Kasemeyer said that in the past, gas-tax plans have only passed when a transportation secretary was around to help negotiate a deal.

And after battling over tax increases last year, Kasemeyer warned that state lawmakers are “fatigued” even before the session begins.

My bad wrong article referenced. As of yesterday:

    http://www.foxbaltimore.com/news/fea...id_17266.shtml

"One of the areas where we have failed a proper level of investment clearly is in transportation," said the Governor as the Maryland General Assembly convenes its 2013 session on Wednesday."
"Failed a proper level of investment"? You don't think raiding the Transporation Trust Fund of $68 MILLION last year to help balance the overpsent operating budget had anything to do with the "proper investment" do you Marty?

Fact remains, the working people in this state have had it up to their arses with this aministration's tax and spend attititude. Gut the GD spending if you need money for new rail lines in the city for crissakes.

Last year, O'Malley, a Democrat, proposed phasing in the state's six percent sales tax on gasoline. But as gas prices continued to climb early last year, the bill never faced a vote in Annapolis.
Seems the legislators aren't anxious to raise the gas tax. Let's hope they continue to oppose it.

O'Malley's entire political career is all about tax increases and lying, that is his answer to everything. The question is why do people vote for vermin like him?
