The above is the exact same moron mentality that was so easily manipulated to result in the war on drugs, the war on privacy rights and decades of racist Libbie Klan type legislation.
Cuomo will win the presidency the same way he won New York. Heavy support from urban areas, gays, minorities, soccer moms, professionals, and people with college degrees.

He'll run strong in the east, the mid-Atlantic region, and the west coast. He'll use Buffalo as a touch stone for policies affecting the Rust Belt.

The Republicans will take the south and the plains states, maybe Florida. If they continue to put up know nothing candidates they will have difficulty getting Virginia back in their column.

Cuomo is definitely a moderate Dem. His positions on spending and Unions have angered many Dems and won praise from the Right. His positions on gay marriage and gun control aren't very far from the mainstream.

I think the only thing that would prevent him from running and possibly winning in 2016 is if Hillary Clinton decides to make another run for President...

You've been in NY too long. Cuomo comes across as an arrogant, know-it-all liberal s.o.b., completely lacking in charm. The voice alone is a turn-off.

Default New York may confiscate assault weapons

    “confiscation could be an option”

It is difficult to have any sympathy for those that would follow the illegitimate orders of the fascist so-called 'leaders' that would physically be engaged in the attempted confiscation and enslavement of the citizenry (who are bound to resist). Of course, the anti-civil rights bigots calling for 'registration' know that it is but a prelude to confiscation.

Well, those laws have been found to be partially successful.

In Mexico, for example, the criminal element has full access to "assault" firearms and ammo.

    Law abiding citizens can not.

That's considered a partial success, right?

Well the Devil is in the details. Some of it sounds reasonable but confiscation is a non starter and will never happen.

    Hi Steam

If you think those are 50 cent words or phrases in that post, you are not familiar with Dsums typical posts. I think he went no more than 25 or maybe 30 cents there.

Far from being Sesquipedalian, I think he held back.

"big words" are effective because they often convey an idea very clearly. Of course, you have to know the target audience.

My favorite Dsum phrase is "assault uteri on full auto".

O'Malley is so unpopular and disliked here in Maryland that he's repeatedly won elections, including a victory over the only incumbent governor to lose when he defeated our former~governor to become governor the first time, and again by 14 points the second time.

You seem to have a hard time acknowledging that Cuomo ~ like O'Malley and like Obama ~ plays better on a national platform than you want to admit. President Obama is so unpopular and disliked that he won twice and most recently when a Republican victory should have been a cakewalk.

These pols, in tripping over themselves to pander to a clearly emotional audience, seem to be inadvertently flooding America with guns every time they speak.

Well, there is that. Beside that though, the democrats seem intent on leveling a nice playing field advantage they now have. Gun rights are a topic that extends across party lines, and will end up driving some of the people on their side over to the other side in coming elections. Let them go. It will only end up bad for them in the long run.

So does Obama to your ilk. It's the issues and the demographics. If I am not mistaken the Democrats have won the popular vote in five of the last six presidential elections.

Again, if the Republicans could figure out how to nominate someone who isn't...

1)bat $hit crazy and in denial about basic science

    and

    2)educated, smart, and articulate

    and

    3) determined to alienate 47% of the voting population

    and

4)beholden to the extreme right wing/whack job/birther/tea party wing of the Republican party

then, and only then, might the repulicans have a chance for the presidency.

The New York governor, however will probably end up being Hillary's vice president and then he'll eventually be president.
