These fools that put ALL their eggs in one basket on a high probability of injury just never learn. How long did Vick last before Thomas snapped his leg like a twig in PRE SEASON?

Remains to be seen how well he recovers from #2. Foxworth was a guy who never really managed to get all the way back. Jamal could make a decent cut from time to time, but he certainly wasn't a slash and dash type of RB. He'd adjust a little bit and either hit the hole, or run somebody over. CBs need to do more of the sudden change sort of thing. Griffin is like a DB / small RB hybrid that can throw.

What might be alarming... it seems that some guys are just more prone to it than others. Webb did it again this year. Jamal had one in college and one in the NFL if I recall correctly. Griffin is on his second bout already, and he's only 22. There aren't many cases I can think of off the top of my head with "mobile QBs" recovering from multiple major ACL injuries in the NFL to compare to. From one angle, you can say "He's young, he's equipped to handle this sort of thing". From another angle, you could say "He's young and he's already done it twice. Will it become LESS likely as he gets older?"

    Time will tell...
The odds are fairly good that he will play again, but how much next year remains to be seen. I would think it would be even more stupid to rush him back. But again, that organization is not known for wisdom. Even if he does come back, his running ability may be diminished and that offense a thing of the past IMHO. We will then see if he can develop into the prototypical pocket passer. IMHO they already have a good candidate for that in Cousins, whose value to the team went up drastically with this turn of events.

Here is a link to a SI article which sums it up pretty well, not extremely optimistic, but pretty much as most analysts and most posters here figured:

    http://nfl.si.com/2013/01/09/acl-dam...lity-for-2013/

It is noted that it is unlikely he will be ready for the start of the season and a real possibility he could miss the season entirely.

Mathematically speaking, they gave up 3 picks because they swapped first rounders last draft.

Anyone recall the knee injury of Willis McGahee prior to being drafted? And he returned and has had a pretty decent career...running the football!

Mathematically speaking they gave up 4 picks. In order to get the #2 pick in the 2012 draft they gave up (now follow me here) the # 6 pick in 2012 (thatis 1) their second round pick in 2012 (we are at 2 now) their first round pick in 2013 (there is the 3rd one) and their first round pick in 2014 (that is 4).

    Lets count again:

    2012 first rounder 1
    2012 second rounder 2
    2013 first rounder 3
    2014 first rounder 4

and one last time mathematically 1+1+1+1=3 I mean 4.

They gave up three becuase they got one in return. Sorry of that confuses you. You can say they gave up four to get the second pick but its inaccurate to say they gave up four to get Griffin.

Also, I'm not and never will be impressed with the running QBs. It seemed to me once RG3 couldn't run the game was over. Perhaps the Redskins should have Tyrod Taylor as their backup so they can run roughly the same offense. Pocket passers is where it's at.
Agree re pocket passers tho sometimes it seems to work--thinking Aaron Rogers, Cam Newton. But in general pocket passer is vastly preferable.

If I were a Skins fan I would be wanting Shanahan's head. If I was the kids mother I would be gunning for other body parts. Coaches need to be the grownups.

RGIII is not built to take a beating. He has a very narrow lower body, no hips and little ankles, you can squat and deadlift till you are blue in face and that won’t change…not a good build for ball carrier but an assume build for a burner like Torrey Smith. If he truly was/is the great drop passer the media selling ….they would not have been running the option with him. He’s lightning fast and Morris is load that’s what makes/made him an accurate passer.

He's an accurate passer because he is accurate. They run the pistol because it is effective and because the offensive line doesn't block well on passes.

Shanahan has always viewed players as expendable. Use them up and spit them out.

Effective at making his career a short one, the option is for bone heads (Vick) and noodle arms (Tebow) not RGIII. My guess next season with a full off season, plus the injury they’ll scrap it.

From 1995-1998 Terrell Davis, had 237, 345,369 and 392 rushing attempts by 26 his career was all but over. Some people wonder why the Redskins drafted Cousins, I don’t.

Don't watch much football, huh? Check out Seattle and San Fran. They run the pistol too.
