Default US lags world in evolution acceptance

    We're second from the bottom...

Is it now obvious why some compare American religious fundamentalists with third world religious fundamentalists?

Not too surprising. If the right wing forces in this country have it there way we'll stay as far from the top of that list (among others) as possible.

H2G2 says the earth was designed by a computer, built by the Magretheans (about 10 million years ago), and paid for by a bunch of mice.

That is about as provable as evolution is, and it's alot more enjoyable to discuss too.

Oh, an Mr R: The lack of education in this country has little to do with right wing fundementalists. I think it has to do with the fact that the schools in America don't like teaching.

Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. The evidence for evolution is abundant and everywhere.

If you don't believe me go to the national dog show.

I beg to differ. It is not the schools that don't like teaching, it is the barriers that are in the way of learning. It is the right-wing fundamentalists that fear knowledge and science, and would rather our children learn some mythology. It is displayed over and over. One need not look any further than the State of Kansas and the mockery of science education they've made.

Yes. There are religious fundamentalists who believe crazy stuff, but this is a free country and you can believe any stupid stuff you want as long as its legal. But I object to the characterization that they are automatically right wing, and the idea that they fear knowledge and science per se, is nonsense.
They have no fear of either.

The education system in this country is broken almost beyond repair. We have no education, what we have is a propaganda system. The so called liberals are the worst offenders when it comes to brain washing our children with utter nonsense.

Both sides use propaganda to the detriment of our children and their future.

If I had spent most of my life putting money into a collection plate every Sunday, I do not think I would be happy for science prove me to be the fool.

    Objection noted.

Well, if you consider the Theory of Evolution, the Periodic Table, and the Laws of Thermodynamics to be "utter nonsense", and "brainwashing" than I feel sorry for you, and anyone else who thinks the same way.

Face it, if anyone is objecting to the science that is taught in schools it is right-wing fundamentalists, not liberals.

I don't think that Theory of Evolution, the Periodic Table, and the Laws of Thermodynamics are "utter nonsense". But there is a lot of liberal garbage taught in schools.

So all people who go to Church don't believe in evolution?

Do you really know anything about religion? Or are you just blatantly prejudice?
