So true. We read about it daily in Baltimore City, the damage to families and children is readily apparent in the juvenile crime rate, as well as ridiculously low (laughable compared to the rest of the state) academic scores.

Newsflash for Captain Obvious - you're more likely to be killed inside your own home by an upset family member/relative who DOESN'T own a gun (or use it to kill you)....than you are from the home invader.

What about crowding?
Bad environment? (air quality, housing quality, noise, dirt, poor services)

I am not saying that there is no "personal responsibility" involved in the equation.

I AM saying that there are other factors, usually quite beyond a person's control.

Stress increases with population density. There have been tests with mice that show this same phenom!
