Unhappy School Shooting of the Day

    http://www.kget.com/news/local/story...M1cMh7ASg.cspx
At least two people were shot at Taft High School Thursday morning. It happened at about 9 a.m. and as of 9:30, students had been evacuated to the football field and there were reports one person was in custody.

Details were still sketchy at 9:45 a.m. but the Sheriff's Department has confirmed a shooter is in custody and at least two people have been wounded.

Hall Ambulance dispatched three ambulances and a medevac helicopter.

Sorry Calamari but there is nothing we as a people can do about it. It's a sacred and protected right to own guns in America. Look on the bright side....it was a high school.

    Default Stabbing Of The Day

In other tragic and horrific news a toddler was found stabbed to death. Let's ban knives as well.

    People kill people.

Good to see that folks are resigned that this is simply status quo now in the USA..

    Just a typical day...

It is...it's turning into how we view drug dealers killing drug dealers in the cities, except these are innocent kids being killed. Sad we've become desensitized to this type of stuff...

Want statistics on firearm deaths vs. knife deaths in this country? Yeah, didn't think so.

If we want to talk gun control, first question is how did the student(s) get a gun? Assuming this was a handgun, I don't think students can legally purchase one.

Feel free to send that over to the victim's parents.

From what I've read it was a shotgun. A shot gun was also used in the Perry Hall High shooting last year. Hmmm, sounds like we need another ban.

I was just asking. I think they can be in Maryland. If that's the case, a high school student could legally purchase a shotgun.

I'm not sure, but quite often they are stolen or "borrowed" from the owner. The anti-gun crowd states that they don't want to outlaw shotguns, but I wouldn't count on that. Just start a media frenzy every time one is used.

So that somehow makes that Todder's death OK?

In every state, yes they can. Even in California (and Maryland btw).

18 is also the age for purchasing "assault weapons" (semi-auto rifles) in Maryland - only regulated firearms require the purchaser to be over 21.

Any "approved" long gun (rifle or shotgun) can be legally purchased in MD by a citizen over the age of 18, including the scary-looking ones. Meaning -- I can buy a Ruger Mini-14 .223, but not if it has a folding stock, which of course, makes it so much more deadly
