The US was a loosely affiliated, sparsely populated, agricultural society when it was founded. The Founders didn't write the Constitution with the assumption that we would eventually become an industrial empire with 300 million people. So even if your statement were true, it would be silly to not be flexible on the size of the Federal government. The size of any government should be proportionate to the size of the population...

So you believe that as our population grows so should the government?

I'm not a member of the NRA and I don't own a gun. I never plan to own a gun, but I don't have anything against the NRA. I wouldn't mind a taser though.

I disagree with your dialogue with Monte, but agree 100% on tasers.

I've always been rather ambivalent about the 2nd ammendment which puts me in the line of fire (pardon the pun) with those on both sides of this issue.

More people does not equal the need for more government.
