Default Burglaries in Monkton, Sparks and Phoenix spur mass email from police

Police are asking North County residents to be on the lookout for suspicious cars or people after a recent string of home burglaries. Cockeysville police precinct's assistant commander Lt. Robert McGraw sent out a mass email on Jan. 10 about burglaries in Monkton, Sparks and Phoenix.

"These are not areas where we normally have burglaries," McGraw said. "We're not sure if they are related, but there is a trend."

Most burglaries happened during the day, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., he said, including two on Manor Road in Phoenix. The first was in the 14500 block between 8:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Dec. 20. A rear door was smashed and jewelry stolen. The other, in the 15400 block, occurred on Jan. 9 between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. That house was ransacked and three handguns, jewelry and cash were stolen.

This is real for sure. The daytime breakin has always been popular up here. They are also hitting unlocked cars at night. Too many people making it easy.

People never used to lock their doors in those areas, never needed to. Same in many of the Cockeysville neighborhoods. Unfortunately, unemployment sometimes causes crime to go up in otherwise safe neighborhoods.

One Balto. Co. burglary suspect dead following crash, another in jail

Surviving suspect in jail on $500,000 bail

January 25, 2012|By Yvonne Wenger, The Baltimore Sun

One burglary suspect is dead and another is in jail following two break-ins in northern Baltimore County Tuesday and a subsequent fatal three-car collision on Dulaney Valley Road in Cockeysville, county police said Wednesday.

Twenty-one-year-old Aaron Nathaniel McCoy Jr., of the 2600 block of W. Lafayette Ave. in Baltimore, was pronounced dead at Maryland Shock Trauma Center following an accident he triggered while fleeing police.

Jenard David Toliver, 21, of the 2100 block of Baker St. in Baltimore, has been charged with two counts of first-degree burglary and one count of grand theft auto. He is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $500,000 bail.

McCoy and Toliver are accused of committing a string of residential burglaries in northern Baltimore County...

The other part of the story is that this IS news because of one simple reason: Crime is not tolerated up here. When it happens people freak the funk out. They call their Councilman, they call the Precinct in Cockeysville, they call Wade Koch, they send out emails and letters and tweets to inform neighbors.
These type of property crimes happen every else in the county too. But they are more tolerant of the crime.

The burglaries haven't been updated on the Baltimore County police crime blog
Anyone notice the diffrence between discriptions in the police reports and the Suns crime blog?

Also I noticed a disturbing trend of black males punching women and stealing their purses.

Looks like the Liberty/Lochearn area is the worst in almost all categories.
Towson, Landsdown/ Arbutus, Essex, and Dundalk all have serious crime problems.

Sparks had 111 thefts and not much else.
I wonder what it would be if you removed Loveton.

When there are arrests it is usually locals. Sometimes druggies from PA or Harford County. But regardless they are rural pill poppers or cranked out low lifes.

The Cockeysville apartment sprawl area is very multicultural and diverse.
The is an abundance of foreign born people there. I am sure many are not citizens yet.

Have you ever heard of Padonia International Elementary School?

Located in Cockeysville, the Padonia International Elementary School is a public elementary school accepting children from pre-kindergarten through grade five. The school plays host to students from over 50 different countries, and approximately 25 percent are enrolled in the school's English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes. For more information, or to enroll your child, please contact the Padonia International Day School.
25% of the students are not native English speakers.

    Pardon to intervene,
    that assertion is incorrect.

Gerald Rafferty, 48, reportedly broke into a home in the 1300 block of Monkton Road on Oct. 26. The homeownever, who in 2011 let Rafferty live in her home for the month of May, told police she saw Rafferty wheeling her 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle out of her home.

When the victim confronted Rafferty, he ran into the woods near her home.

Police deployed a helicopter and K-9 units to track down Rafferty. Police then received another call about a man hiding next to a home nearby, who turned out to be Rafferty.

That scum bag was fresh out of jail. The victim should never have let him live there.

But do you deny that there are higher crime rates near Section 8 housing?

I have never seen that map in the link before, thanks for that link and wow just wow how informative.
That map is why Dan Rodricks promotes section 8 everywhere in the county for his own liberal feel goodism but for some reason he's never written about having a desire for section 8 housing in his own neighborhood
