Two women charged in knife-point robberies in Federal Hill

City police have charged two women - one who was released from jail recently after prosecutors dropped armed carjacking charges against her - in connection at least four knife-point robberies in the Federal Hill area, a spokesman said.

Officers received a report of a robbery Thursday night at about 7 p.m. in the 900 block of Harden Pl. and a description of the suspects was broadcast to officers. They found the two suspects walking in the 1100 block of Hanover St., said Detective Jeremy Silbert, a police spokesman.

Police arrested Sharticia Bryant, 21, and Keaira Vanzandt, 19, and have charged them in the Thursday robbery. But Silbert said police have connected the pair to at least three other similar robberies since Dec. 21:

Bryant was charged in March with an armed carjacking, armed robbery, and related charges, and was being held without bond. Court records show prosecutors dropped all of the charges in mid-November, and a spokesman for State's Attorney Gregg Bernstein did not immediately respond to questions about why the case was dropped.

Her school teachers should be investigated. If it is determined that they failed to attempt to teach her then those teachers should be indicted. I paid a lot of my tax money to teach Sharticia and I want my money's worth. I expect no less from Sharticia than from her school teachers and administrators.

Typically, young criminals bounce from one school to the next after expulsions. Evictions also put them in different districts. Blaming the teacher unfortunate enough to have a criminal placed in the classroom is like blaming the wardens for the quality of the inmates.
