The truth is that people have many things they don't need. These things that are not "assault weapons" sometime causes more harm in aggregate than "assault weapons."
To be correct the miltary does not use their assult rifles "to protect family and property."
I was active duty and current National Guard, so I guess I also know what I speak.
This is similar to the pre-election polls on SSM & Dream, and not far off on the polls on the candidates as well,-- back then I thought about those polls pretty much what most are saying here about this one.
But, then the pre-election polls proved to be highly accurate and the election as a whole went hook line and sinker the demlib way. So, why should anyone seriously doubt the results of this latest gun poll? Seems about mainstream for MD to me.
MD is firmly a left of center demlib state. Get used to it, its real.
That's scary Ken, that we think alike too much.
I used to not put much stock into polls, but after the election, now I do-- well, there are polls and then there are polls. I think some are commissioned by certain advocates and crafted to get desired results in attempt to shape public opinion, then there are some truly unbiased, scientific ones that seem, when opportunity for testing comes, to be highly accurate. So I think one can put stock in them if you take the time to evaluate the pollster-- and the poll, instead of just reading the results.

From their website:
They sound more like an advocacy group masquerading as a polling firm. A number of their other “polls” can be located by doing a simple Google search. Another interesting article:
http://annapolis.patch.com/articles/...th#photo-firstOpinionWorks, at 20 Ridgely Ave., is a 10-year-old company that provides market research services and statistical analysis. Their services include focus groups, one-on-one interviews and formal surveys, according to the release. Owner Steve Raabe was approved for a $100,000 state-guaranteed line of credit that is set to be used for working capital to cover new contracts, according to the release. The loan was approved through the Maryland Investment Development Financing Authority.
I'm just amazed at how some people can't accept that a majority of the electorate in this solidly demlib state of MD would not be opposed to banning assault weapons and lmiting magazine capacity.
"We" ("we" meaning conservatives, smaller government types, perhaps even moderate dems) had a perfect chance to at least figuratively rein in O'Malley, Busch & Miller and/or send them a message that there are limits. But what did "we" ( "we" in this instance referring to a majority of those that voted) do? We sent the clear message that Miller, Busch & O'malley should continue with their agenda full speed ahead. Dream Act, SSM, Gambling, even Gerrymandering won hands down. On top of that, the only incumbent office-holder(s) in MD that I am aware of that got tossed were Republican(s).
But, maybe we can all get clear on that next election, maybe we can get whatever gun bill that gets passed to referendum-- assuming O'malley, Busch & Miller don't succeed in legislatively precluding referendums------ and once again, maybe we'll have it driven home-- that MD is left, demlib country. Get used to it and accept it or move, you'll be happier for it. I decided to accept and live with it as I have things other than politics to keep me here.
Steve Raabe owner of Opinion Works doubts his own poll results when it comes to O'Malley.

Even though half of Maryland voters say they approve of the job Martin O’Malley is doing as governor, they reject the notion of his moving into the White House by a 2-1 margin, the Baltimore Sun reported Monday.End Quote
However, pollster Steve Raabe, who conducted the survey for the Sun, said the numbers don't necessarily reflect how voters would view an O'Malley candidacy as the 2016 race gets closer.
"Half of Maryland voters"??? I have not talked to one single person who thinks O'Malley is doing a good job.

Guess you don't talk to people that vote then. Enough think he is doing a good enough job to handily elect him twice and support his measures at referendum as well.
Opinionworks always has a poll out to support O'Malley's latest position.
