First of all he was Dean of Stedents when the crime happened. And the school is clearly a Jewish school. Anyone here think that the word Catholic could be missing if this was Institute of Notre Dame?

A Baltimore private school teacher was arrested last week after an investigation by the Baltimore County Police Department's Crimes Against Children Unit, police said Monday.

Foye C. Minton Jr., 33, of Cockeysville, was charged with child abuse, police said, and is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $250,000 bond.

Police said a victim, now 20, came forward in December alleging that the abuse started in 2009 when she was a student at Shoshana S. Cardin School in Baltimore. At the time, Minton was dean of students and director of athletics at the school and was the victim's coach and gym teacher, according to police.

Selective media coverage. Happens all the time, especially when a suspect's or suspects' descriptions are involved. It's a ratings/readership thing.

The important fact remains however - another school student was sexually abused by a teacher.

If they used the "Jewish School" title then it would basically imply that the accused was a Jew and it appears that this was not the case. Jews traditionally do not name their sons "Jr." and ones of European heritage only name children after deceased relatives.
Here is a link to the obituary of the accused man's father. It is pretty obvious that at the very least "Jr." was not born a Jew and his family definitely were not Jews.

Principals at Shoshana Cardin and the Day School, both private Jewish schools, sent letters to parents and faculty members after Minton's arrest last week that said Minton had gone through a full background check before being hired.

This article is timed 7:17 PM so perhaps they read this thread and wrote another story in the crime blog to mention the religous nature of the school.

As with most school involved sexual abuse cases there will be questions about what the school knew and what if anything they did about it. This one could become interesting if pushed by inquiring minds.

"Any sexual involvement with the alleged victim was consensual and occurred when she was over the age of eighteen and with her parents having full knowledge of the relationship throughout," said the statement issued by attorney Adam P. Frank. "Mr. Minton would ask that you withhold any judgment until all the facts are presented at trial."

Police said the alleged sexual relationship took place between Jan. 17, 2009 and Dec. 31, 2010 and occurred at his home in Baltimore City, the school and other locations. The girl's age at the time of the alleged crimes has not been released.

Baltimore County police said adults "in a position of trust, authority or guardianship" are barred from having sex with minors, whether they consent or not.

The school and its founder are not inconsequential in the Jewish Community and the founder of the school is of considerable stature in both the community at multiple levels.

I can tell you right now they aren't going to talk and they already told everyone else to keep their mouth shut too. This isn't something they can shut out the outsiders on and just let the Rabbinical court handle it. A Student might have been raped and their foremost concern is the schools reputation. They should shut that place down.

"We are not aware of any incidents or complaints in connection with this teacher while teaching at the Day School," the letter said. It ended with "Please keep conversations regarding this to a minimum so as to protect the reputation of our school and the well-being of our students."

Throwing the BS flag on this one. Why NOW is this girl coming out and telling her story? All of a sudden its a problem? The teacher is not denying the relationship according to his lawyers but that it happened after she was an adult.

If it started in 2009 and she is 20 now, then she was under 18 when it started, and if there was a teacher/student relationship, then whether she was over the age of consent wouldn't matter.
